There can be some kind of issue with the trigger IF you get enough dirt inside it. Everyone should take a trigger apart and see how/why they work.....................trust me it isn't very difficult. IF dirt gets between the two thingies in there, it can decrease sear engagement, but it isn't very easy to get dirt between the thingies.

Saw a report on cnbc tonight and they mentioned a walker trigger and also the model 770 remington rifles. I think the problem might lie with the bargain basement model 700's. Local gunsmith in renton I use had issues with a weatherby vanguard factory adj trigger, set it to 3 or 3.5 lbs and the saftey would quit working, so I had him install a timney instead. These manufacturers are only worried about one thing, get em out the door cheap and whats our stock doing.

The model 700 has been the flagship of the rifle line at Remington for quite a while...the triggers are known.
