Did not hear that rumor, but talked to someone at a launch who apparently talked with someone at the Montesano office that gave him the impression they were considering one chinook in the bag after Oct. 1st.

Have no idea if true or not, just what he told me.

Well couple days off but trowing BF in front of the house zero.... caught that is. The bloody things would follow the spoon right to my steps and turn and show me tail! They are there but they have lock jaw and I am at a loss to know why.

Guys pulling gear are getting one / two per boat a day but they are staying close to the bank and working it hard. Bit snaggy but getting some and the Chinook are starting to park.

Why were you using a french fry? You should change your name to GullPrince.

We won't know what they do until they do it. I doubt very highly we will get to keep 1 nook but who knows. got another nook today, nice 20-25# hen, guess I am not so good at not hooking them after all. So much for my orange on pink spinners not being attractive to nooks.

Fishing from Wal mart to lakeside was really slow. Slack tide gave up a few fish but not much moving at all with the tide. Seems like the early fish are thinning out. About a week and main run should show up. Could have something to do with the tides as the flow is switching again so maybe it will be good in a couple days.

I live near the Humdinger in Hoquiam and I was wondering a good/close location to go fishing for salmon.

Mapel, pick a spot you can get to the river and fish. I have fished from the Airport all the way up to Lakeside from the bank anywhere I could get close enough to cast. Walk down on the Swansons side past the bridge to where Tthe Hoquiam river enters the bay, fish by the bridge, above the bridge, 28th street landing, lots of places to try, find water and fish.

I heard that there is a derby next weekend in the Harbor area. A friend saw a sign posted at the 28th street launch. Can someone here fill me in....any information would be appreciated.
Thanks

Salt if you fish below the Aberdeen bridge.

That's the official enforced deadline between MA 2-2 and the Chehalis River proper.

In marine areas 2-1 and 2-2 you can fish with either a fresh water or saltwater license. Page 106 of the rules pamphlet at the bottom of the page for area 2. Get a freshwater license for all your needs in town and this area. Go surf fishing or fish outside the channel between the jetties at Westport and Ocean Shores you need a salt water license. Basicaly any fishing from aline drawn for the west ends of the jetties east is fresh or salt water license. Fish on the ocean side of the jetties and you need salt water license.

Cick on marine area rules and find area 2.

Don't know anything more about the derby than the dates. I don't play in them. And remember, if salmon is not listed on a body of water it is closed to fishing for salmon.

Fresh water license or salt water license is all you need. BUT, if you fish above the Hoquiam river bridge by Swansons or Above the Chehalis river bridge in Aberdeen you MUST have a fresh water license. Best to get a fresh water license if you have no plans to fish salt water until after next April. If you are not tight on money, get a combination and fish and crab anywhere in Grays Harbor with no worries. Elsewhere in the state you may need to buy enhancements to fish there, legally, like the Columbia for salmon and crabbing in the Puget Sound.

Sorry eyeFISH, didn't mean to step on your post.

I stand corrected. No offense taken. Lifted right off the PDF.....

NOTE: In Areas 2-1 and 2-2, anglers may use either a freshwater, saltwater, or combination license.

Like many others, I have always fished under the assumption that a Marine Area = salt = salt license required. Obviously not.

Thanks for the clarification.

Fished for about 20 mins today, got a little 10# buck. Nothing visibly moving at all. Heard of 5 fish caught at the park and 2 others behind Walmart yesterday. No other fish that I know of today.
