Greetings. I am a first time poster. I live in the Seattle area and I have a 3 day weekend Sept 15. I'm considering Prices Lake near Hoodsport or Dry Falls Lake, but I haven't been to either one. First, is this a good time to fish there? Second, can I launch my 14' aluminum drift boat? It's on a trailer. I can pull the trailer by hand, but I'll be alone so I can't carry the boat. Third, is there another trout lake I should go to instead? Thanks for your insight.

Greetings KentDuck:

I have fished a couple of lakes over by Hood Canal recently - Cady (Fly only, C & R) & Benson. The surface water temps were about 70 - 74 degees. It's too warm for consistent fishing, picked up a few but it took a lot of work. I haven't hit Price yet, but have heard it was hit hard by poachers and the fishing has gone down hill quickly. I fish Dry Falls in the fall so don't know much about it during the summer months - hopefully, someone will give you a current up date. You might check the old fishing reports on this site to get an idea of the summer fishing. The put in at Dry Falls is not really for trailer launching but you can drag the boat to the water. My opinion only, but we are kind of in the summer doldrums for hot lake fishing for trout. Good luck - make sure you let us know how you do.

Price Lake has no launch, it's a short, rough trail from the road to the lake, mostly a float tube show. You can launch a boat easily at Dry Falls, although the road from Sun Lakes State Park to Dry Falls Lake can best be described as cobbly once you get off the paved portion.
