(I'll run down to the auto dealer later today and see how they feel about options #1 and #2 if I decide to buy...)

Make no mistake, when one buys an expensive rod it's for the cool first, and warranty whine second. It's called "warranty", and not "insurance" for a reason.

Good luck with this one.

Well said! Although I think it's more like 99%. I voted number 3 as well. Just about every time a rod breaks I hear...well good thing those have a lifetime warranty.....WHAT?????

Shimano or Berkley Rods.

Everyone should read this article it's pretty interesting on rod breakage and causes:
http://www.roguerods.com/docs/rodbreak.pdf

They broke over 200 rods and found that at best 2% were manufacturer defect.

For those of you that think rods break because of user error most of the time.......I have had one break as a fault of mine in my life. I have had two break for no reason at all. Very light bend, very light pressure, first day I had them. I am glad they had warranties. Happens a lot with newer high modulus graphite. It is a lot more brittle than older rods and the manufacturing process does create some bad blanks.

GDF,
Thanks for the link. That was an interesting read, with a lot of great points. I was cringing at some of the causes of damage.

I chose #3 I have 3 Lamiglas Cert Pros that I have had for almost ten years. I have never broken a rod in my life, I am very careful.

# 3 for me with a but. I've used almost every brand of rod and only one that broke that wasn't my fault.
With that in mind Lamiglas, Wright/McGill and Rainshadow tend to go way out there to keep you on the water.
