The Lake we visited this weekend may not be the secret lake , But it was fun. Not alot of fish caught. But alot of hookup's and LDR's. Today was great as I caught and released a beautiful 26" rainbow that was a good 7 lbs. This was on my gl4 2wt. Using a still water intermediate sinking line and a size 16 red and brown wooly bugger. In about 5 feet of water. Great ending to a great weekend. Saturday I caught 2 on dry size 20 trico.
These were a 18" bow and a 16" bow. Saturday was sunshine and t-shirts toady cloudy and cold. This may not of been Zen Leechers Lake but it was a great Weekend. laugh

Trout Squealer,

hmmm... found a secret lake.

I told you I'd hunt you down like a dog and shoot you if you talked.. and I been out reloading in the garage...

Since you did not mention the name and kept the secret.. it is a secret whether I will hunt you down.

Zen Master I did not mention the name or it's location. But from the number of people there it's not to much of a secret. But my lips have been sealed for I do not wish to be hunted down like a dog. But I would go shoot some ducks there if I was you. There were also deer hunters there also.

<whistle>... here boy... come on... don't be afraid... come on.

Trout Squealer, I have other secret lakes and you'll never get them from me. Except for the one that's a 6 mile hike in. It's the way out that's the secret.

now.... if you offered to drive.. then I might show you.

MB,

After I sent that message I found out I maybe going to a funeral on Saturday. At least there's some discussion on scheduling it for Saturday.

It's with the ex-inlaws and I don't talk too much with them.. so I won't know for sure until it's already planned.

Might not be going fishing this weekend.

My best was 5 ducks with 4 shots... all flying. My double was on the second shot. Oh.. I had two shotguns in the boat with me. Two shots from the first one and couldn't reload fast enough so I set it down and picked up the other one.

I took 6 snipe on one shot once. They were lined up just right (or wrong in this case). I fired one shot as they got up... and there was snipe everywhere. Sure messed me up as I only needed two for a limit at that time.

I loved hunting snipe, plus they are great eating. I was only able to kick up singles. I was six for six at one point, that dropped to six for twenty when I got cocky. BTW, all shot at different times, no limit violations here.

(Sorry to all about the non-fishing stuff.)

Funeral's on Saturday morning so I guess I won't be fishing with the two of you. Had another guy bringing a pontoon boat along for me so I didnt' need to even bring my pram...

Guess I'll be around home this weekend and doing something local on Sunday. I see a local pheasant release site in my future.

I was with ZL on Sunday when he dropped a nice double on mallards. He was even nice enough to give them a warning shot. smile

Dogfish: Knowing ZL, the first shot was just to get their attention. Doubles are pretty neat, esp. mallards. What other birds did you bag? Should be a lot of widgeon in the area, any pins?

Bet those fields are covered now, the Chehalis doesn't seem to like to stay in the banks.

We only knocked down a teal after that. The property we hunt didn't have enough water then, but it does now. There were 10 woodies earlier in the season, but they're gone now. We usually get a good mix of wigeon, mallards, ringnecks, scaup, pintails, and the occasional goldeneye. There are a few geese in the area, but you have to watch for the dusky's.

It is in the Chehalis river valley near Porter. Most of the property is exposed to flooding of the river when it blows out, but the back section is quite huntable and safe when floods occur.

No, but I have been known to "cast and blast" as a number of others have stated.

There were fish swimming in the slough and if they were near enough I wudda sluiced them.

Ducks.. I play by Marquis de Sade rules..oh.. make that Queensbury. I didn't fire my first shot as a warning shot either. It was taken with deadly intent, guess just not deadly aim.

This might not be a hunting website, but it's not a barbeque and forks website either.

Rain, I see we got 3.38 inches yesterday up here in Seattle. That will sure fill a few of Andy's ponds. I thought we got a lot yesterday, maybe over an inch, but I didn't think it was over 3 inches. That's a lot!

Next time... no warning shots!

Z.L. are you giving up on fishing , Thats why you shoot inocent flying birds? Fish have the choice to take a fly or not to take a fly. A butt load of buck shot coming at a bird ,Now there is a choice . The bird must say Hey lets fly into the buck shotand end our lives. confused

Innocent birds my arse! Wait until you step on a pheasant and drop your gun and a few other thing when it startles you. How about when your partner drops a goose and the goose maliciously falls on you, almost knocking you out? How about dropping a surf scoter only to have said scoter attempt a Kamikaze run on your partner's canoe, almost flipping it? These fowl were not innocent. Surely they could have chosen a different path, but noooooooooo, they didn't.

Ducks also have the opportunity to choose when and where they land. The right presentation of decoys is needed to attract ducks on a regular basis, just like fishing.

Jumpshooting, which is what we were doing, is a bit like sightcasting. You see 'em, but you don't always get 'em.

What about those poor innocent fish? What did they ever do to you? wink

I'm honing my skills incase I find a squealer.

The ducks talked, or at least I suspected them of talking....or they made fun of me.

TM... you ain't making fun of me are you? I also have cousins that play the banjo... you want to fish with guys who play banjos???

The ducks also offered up their feathers for my fly tying efforts.

I take it you don't tie flies and do the "yuppie" thing of buying those flies? Geez... anybody can buy flies, it takes some effort to tie flies. And some nerve to show off your first few efforts.

I love it when I get a rise out of you Zen Leecher
Now watch your blood pressure. I guess it boils down to the fact that I did not get to fish at all this season with the Master of the leech.
yuppie! far from it . Fly tying ! I try to tie.
And sometimes they work. laugh

my fishing season sorta fizzled after my big BC trip. only went out 3 times after that.. well, two of those "times" were week long trips, both out of state, actually all three trips were out of state.

I never suspected TM was trying to bait me.... not for one moment.

I have a snipe in the freezer that is earmarked for tying "snipe and olive" soft hackles.
