I did the dog thing when I was married.....no more!

Cat's for me from the day I became single again.

My latest mate, Smokey just got his nuts cut off and I expected some big time retaliation in the chewing and clawing dept. None! just wanted to play with his fleet of toy mice. Works for me!

Damn, that is awful! That poor pup looks so sad. Is he going to be ok? Whatever did that, I don't know, but it kind of looks like there was more than one.

He is out of it , just back from vet in that picture.

He will be fine as long as nothing gets infected.

Stitches come out in another week and he should be fetching duck's again.

I heard the fight and it was blood curdling I could not identify the other animal(s)

A dog wearing a satellite dish is a pathetic sight. Poor puppy!!! Friggin coons. Hope you have some antibiotics to make sure he doesn't get a infection. Bites are dirty. What did the vet say about rabies?

Spent the night last night at the vet. Daughter's cat got a swipe from a racoon. Cleaned up and sent home. $300.

What's the fine/penalty for killing a raccoon in your county?

I'm pretty sure if I had to pay those vet bills, there would be one LESS raccoon in my neighborhood.

Nuthin' says love like a subsonic 22.

Just sayin'.

That's so sad. I know how I would feel if it were Tye. I feel almost as bad for your doggie.

Sorry to hear.
Good he was able to defend himself and come home, a smaller dog might not have been so lucky.

I'm sure he will be all healed up in no time.

Seriously would think about having someone back there ASAP with a predator call and a Shotgun with some 00 buck or even a bow if there are houses around. If it was coyotes after a dog that size they need to be delt with. If it was a racoon he probably just got to close. Hope he learned a lesson but if he is anything like my bone headed brown one he will hit the next one just a little harder.

Hard to see him like that. If it was one of mine I would be bumbing hard. Best wishes.

Thank's for the concern
I was pretty worried when I first got him home but after getting him cleaned up I knew he would be ok. He is pretty torn up though 4 gashes/punctures through the skin with muscle visible, both ears scratched up one with one missing a small chunk, and numerous other nasty cuts and abrasions.
The fight woke my neighbor up at 4:30 am his words "It sounded like somethin was f----n dying" I have been out hunting but no luck.

I can only hope whatever it was took at least as much of whoopin
pretty sure Bristol was fightin for his life.

Not sure abought wild animals but without antibiotics cuts like that on a domestic animal would become infected and probably cause a slow painfull demise.

He is a total pain in the butt now (day 8) confined to house, wearing the cone, full of energy and cannot get wet or dirty .

Raccoon trap shouldnt be hard to find. Save you stayin up all night.

The billy the exterminator show is a good how to guide. Lots of old shows and he deals with everything from rodents to coons, foxes, opossum, bobcats etc. lots of snakes and bugs too.

Awww... poor thing. Glad to hear that he's got his energy back though. That is a good sign.

Does he sleep outside at night?

Man that is sad, I'm glad he made it through that . Layla, my 8 month old lab/chesapeake has had a few close calls and bad experiences but she's doing great. She jumped out of my jeep goin 25 mph at about 10 weeks, lost a little fur on the back of her leg but was thankfully fine. Been brutally attacked by a mini weiner dog ( small man syndrome). Swept into the river at a young age ( Had to jump in after her and temporarily lost my rod). I thought that would make her affraid of the water but I still can't seem to keep her out of it. The worst was about a week ago when I noticed a piece of fishing line coming from her mouth. First thing I thought was SH!T there is likely a hook on the end of it. Luckily there wasn't and we slowly pulled 3 1/2 feet of mono from her throat. She's my first dog, and I couldnt've asked for a better one. Only chews certain things. Doesn't bark except when commanded to speak or if someone approaches the front door. Loves to swim, smart as a whip, and a real looker at that ( at least I think so) . I'm not a bird hunter, but she really makes me wanna take up the sport. You could say I'm a proud father.

Super looking pup. I too have pulled about a yard of mono fromy pup - no apparent damage. Te will swim, but isn't crazy about it. Today he swam about 50 yards for a stick then on the next thr looked at me as if to say ""You go get it."

If anyone has a dog that loves to swim and wants some company on the water, I would love to have Tye play with a dog that loves the water. I think that's all he would need to become an eager swimmer.
