Direct-Drive]Sorry to hear.
Good he was able to defend himself and come home, a smaller dog might not have been so lucky.

I'm sure he will be all healed up in no time.

Alway's amazed at how fast these guy's heal he would not put ANY weight on his front leg for two day's

Day 9 all the wound's are scabbed and peeling, ditch the cone and the shaved spots and you would not know anything was wrong.

Bristol's day's lounging in the house are numbered.
Stitches could probably come out tomorrow.

Dave

Maybe Tye has some Newfie in his heritage. Friend who had one said the dog would fetch anything once. Second time, the dog figured you had, you threw it away, it's your problem.

Really sucks when the dogs keep outsmarting us.

I'm meeting up with Dave at noon at Ben Howard on Thursday. If anybody else wants to bring their swimming dogs it would be a party.

I can't keep my dog out of the water. I think he'll be a good instructor.

It wasn't a raccoon, I guarantee it. I've hunted hounds on raccoons for years and killed them up to 40 pounds. Several of those larger coons, after shot would come out of the tree alive and a 70lb hound would handle them with ease. Granted he'd always get bit on the nose and face. Remember a dog's instincts is to go for the neck, it's bred in them and 1 on 1 fights will be face wounds. You're dog was attacked by a pack of coyotes in my opinion. Pack meaning 2-4 dogs. They'll lure your dog out and then play that wolf game with them. Seen it many times with friends that live further out except most of their dogs were Rotts and Chessy's.

I'll guarantee you a lab has all the instincts in the world to kill when cornered. I've watched my chocolate lab kick the [censored] out of 2 dogs a couple years ago. One of situations where you think you're going to have to shoot the others and you're dog pulls through with a few small rips and tears...

Time is your worst enemy, he's a tough dog and hopefully he's learned a lesson..

Gotta love a well trained lab, man's best friend! thumbs

That might work, we're pretty damn busy right now but I'm about 2 minutes from the lake and would love for another young lab to wear her into the ground . I live in monte and Lake Sylvia is a good place to take them.

If anybody needs to increase their dogs self esteem then I could bring Sage. She loves to swim but is lousy at it. A lab can typically do several retrieves in the time it takes her to do one.

Or she can annoy Todd in the drifter to the point where he throws a stick into the middle of the river where she will swim, swim, swim, losing ground the whole time, until she gets dumped into the Pacific smile

That's yet to poop her out though smile

Agreed-Coyotes will pattern a pet and then gang up on them. Big dogs usualy can fight their way out while small dogs and cats end up on the lamp post or mailbox.

Glad your pups doing better Browndog!

An Energizer bunny, that's what Sage is...no matter how much she runs or swims, it doesn't slow her down from jumping on my lap, eating my lunch, attacking my fishing lures (especially pink worms), barking at squirrels, whining at clouds...and my favorite, trying to sit on my lap and lick my face while I'm rowing smile

She's lucky she's so damn cute and sweet, or I'd have fed her to the bears years ago smile

Fish on...

Todd

Might be Daves. Thats about when we left....sorry to have missed you.
Tye liked the frozen mallard I brought a lot.
I sent it home with Dave for future training missions. So glad to be beyond the puppy stage!
Tye was rambuctious but nothing beyond most lab pups. He acts just like Borris (AP's dog) in terms of play.
Tye is funny. He has no fear of the water just doesn't mind if some other dog does the retreiving when it's over his head. My memory says that Chase didn't become a serious water fetcher until he was around a year old.

Somewhat off the Lab topic but as far as Damn Dogs go...was at Mukilteo Post office today walking out and a guy passes me walking a little mini collie just minding his own business. A lady w a pickup is straining to get 5000 packages out of her truck to mail and her giant german shepard took about a 10 foot leap outta truck n took a beeline to the runt dog and proceeds to maul him as the owner is beating, kicking and eventually wrestling this dog in the bushes...lady dumped all her packages in the dirt/mud/water n got her dog away. Probably only lasted 10 seconds total but seemed much longer.

Lil dog seemed fine although he looked a bit frazzled, owner was freaked out and German got beat all the way to and back into the pickup...

Really sorry we missed you. I would have been great to have Tye and his sibling get together. As Dave said Tye was absolutly wild about that duck. I didn't think he was at all birdy but the duck was like heroin to an addicted. It DID NOT improve his obedience but sure made him a swimmer. Let's try to get together again.

Here is a photo of Tye and his Christmas present about one hour after he got it.
