I just moved here from Covington (near Kent) this summer. The forks are running a little high but decent visibility. I live right on SE Middle Fork rd, so I'm just a few minutes from some of my favorite trout spots. Plus, I hit the lower river for steelhead on my way to work in Issaquah. There are tons of lakes around here that I need to get to know better as well.

Do you spend much time on any of the forks?

I try to get out as much as I can. Wife works so I pick my time around her hours. Have to watch kids but so far if the weather would cooperate I could make it out. I live a ways away from that area but thats why I have a car. I like to fish the forks. I've not caught anything big yet. They say 12" is about average on the forks. At least the road up there is alright except when you get above the Taylor river on the middle fork. That road is a goat trail. I've been to the end of the road once but I wasn't fishing at the time. Lots of good looking water up there. I think that I will make it this year. But when it warms up a little. The reason I go when I can is thar I'm retired. Nothing but free time. Jim S.

12" average, huh? I'd say that's pretty generous. 10" is my average, with 1 or 2 fish pushing 14" each trip. This last summer I did find one that was pushing 17".

These rivers get hit pretty hard, but I found a few 'secret spots' where on a warm summer night you can't keep them off your fly. Most of these guys are 6 to 10" and you'll have 2 or more going for you dry fly at the same time. Sometimes it's so crazy, I've actually sent 6" trout flying over my shoulder on my back cast.

When they aren't hitting the dries, I'll either stick on a wooly bugger or whip out my ultra light spinning rod. That's when i usually find the bigger ones.

One of these days I need to go find where they hide in the winter and try to get into some white fish as well. I've caught several whities up there while trout fishing over 3lbs.

There's another site out there thats run by a gentleman named Chris. It's washington flyfishing. He also live in North Bend. But from what I gather he lives on the S/fork. He fishes it pretty regularlly.(boy my spelling sucks today). He's got spots marked on a map on his site that shows the best spots to fish the S/Fork.
