Are any of them worth a [censored]?

I'm tired of paying for a cell phone i rarely use. I think I have the cheapest plan Verizon offers,and its still $50 a month after all the fees. Last month I used 7 minutes.

My wife thinks I need a phone for emergencies. I don't think I need a phone at all.

If I have to have a phone,I want to do it as cheap as possible.

I'd like to know the same thing, would like to pick one up for my Dad.

I think they're generally a smart option for super low usage scenarios, or visitors from out of the region.

I considered taking one, vacuum packing it and stuffing it into my Ditch Bag on my boat as an additional emergency solution.

The x-factor is how quickly the "minutes" expire (either to dis-use, or failure to re-up and buy more)... Sometimes they last only a few months, which makes them bad for emergency scenario usage. That's the x-factor to really watch.

i use t mobil pay as you go, you can buy 1000 minutes for 100 bucks and they last a year but any amount below that lasts for 90 days but the minutes carry over and if you buy a cheap phone to get started on the plan you can go to frys and buy a good unlocked phone and put your sim card in it, i will never go back to a contract.

Proud Tracfone owner for 6 yrs now. Perfect plan for people who never get calls.
