Yep, the bantering is redlining now. Time to play the game. Long but hilarious with some good ole bashing from both sides of the debate ... grin
Chris Low: Honestly, can Oregon’s undersized defensive line hold up against Auburn’s big, veteran offensive line and the brilliance of Cam Newton? I love it when they start their point with "Honestly," Dale Zanine/US Presswire How did Auburn get to this game with a ‘D’ that gave up more than 30 points to Kentucky, Ole Miss and Georgia? The Auburn D is better now, since those games, but it's interesting that Kentucky and Ole Miss were able to run inside and outside on Auburn from the read option. CL: What the Tigers do have is a dominant player in junior tackle Nick Fairley, who’s the ultimate disrupter up front. Good luck in blocking him. This will be a guy to watch...he's #90 and plays DT. If he gets a hold of you he doesn't just take you down, he arches his back on the way down to point-load and maximize the impact. In the read option usually one the DE's is the "read man" and he is allowed to react to the play unblocked. I expect that Coach Kelly will change up and make Fairley the read man on some of the plays. If it works, it will be demoralizing for the Auburn D to see that their best lineman, unblocked, could not stop the play. Fairley is very fast for his size, but in the shotgun read he will have to cover a lot of ground against faster players. The beauty of the read option is, "if you don't block him, just read him". Both teams use read option combined with zone blocking and hurry up. It's taking over college football.

I agree DD and I think this game is going to be a lot closer then people think.
Oregon is going to try and keep them off balance with the quick offense moving all the time. Auburn is going to try and get in and hurt someone.
Either way it will be a fun one.

Oregon is going to try and keep them off balance with the quick offense moving all the time.
I'm thinking that Auburn is very concerned with this, hence the reported "meeting with game officials" about getting enough time for defensive substitutions. One way to solve this problem is to keep the Oregon offense on the bench. Could be that the Auburn game plan will be to ram it at the Oregon D-line and burn clock at every opportunity. But....mix it up occasionally from plodding ground game to hurry up....like a pitcher's change up. I think they might do that. The problem with that is that Oregon doesn't need a lot of time of possession to hurt you and their red zone defense has been stout. So if Auburn trades too many 3's for too many 7's....... The downside for Oregon with this scenario is that their D would be on the field for an extended time. So many variables. Game on. Edit: One guy just said that Fairley, in a shirt, looked like he had pads on.

Said it before, will say it again. It's a lose lose situation. This time tomorrow it will be over and we can all look forward to the Huskies in 2011. ....and, Brewer moves up a notch in the opinion polls.

Exactly. Though, even if it came down to the Ucks playing themselves, I'd still root for a random act of God upon them...

http://m.deadspin.com/5729665/the-rest-of-the-sec-needs-to-quit-rooting-for-auburnThere's a nasty characteristic, endemic to but not solely the province of the SEC, in which fans of rival schools put that all aside to pull for their conference in big games. This is unacceptable. We hate to pick on the SEC; but then, no we don't. The same fans of schools across the South who threw their allegiance behind the Crimson Tide last year will now be pulling, in large part, for the Tigers to win the national championship tonight. It's that famed SEC Pride at work (Here's SECPride.com, for all your SEC Pride needs). The irrational need for your conference to be recognized as the best in the nation, the evidence being bowl wins. Even if it means cheering on a hated rival. From the Birmingham News: "You should cheer for the SEC and the state's team." "It makes the SEC look stronger than everybody else." "You should be rooting for the SEC no matter who is there, because with the Big Ten getting a championship game and the Pac-10 getting a championship game, the national media would just love to say the SEC's not the best." There it is, that irrational persecution complex that everyone is out to get the conference. No, everyone takes shots at the conference because they tend to do things like this: claiming their rivalries are the most venomous and spirited, and then turning around and rooting for their foils, all in the name of preserving the nebulous myth of "SEC Speed." No one else does this. Red Sox fans don't pull for the Yankees in the World Series. Whichever team loses Steelers/Ravens on Saturday won't be cheering on the winner to represent the AFC North. That's because the first rule of sports fandom is if you can't root for your team, the next best thing is to root against your enemies. Do college football fans not get this? Not that we presume Bill Plaschke speaks for anyone, but he's not the only person on the West Coast hoping that an Oregon win would mean respect for the Pac-10. It doesn't work that way. If Auburn wins tonight, it doesn't make the SEC better than the Pac-10, or any other conference. Same for Oregon. All it means is the winning team was better than the losing team, and every other team in the country (not including TCU). All Bama and Oregon State fans rooting for their rivals tonight should be publicly shamed and forced to wear their rivals' gear to next year's Iron Bowl and Civil War.

Early on I was thinking I'd have some Pac-10 pride and root for the Ducks...but as time has gone by, and it's down to crunch time now, I realized I just can't do it.
Like a coldfooted groom swilling beers in the dressing room, I'm out the back door in a flash to go drinking with my buddies and root on the Auburn War Eage.
