Been waiting for the so-called storm since 1:00 PM but nothing yet. I imagine it will get here eventually but with less vigor than what the weather people predicted.

Didn't they close the Seattle schools the day before the storm awhile back based on a predicted large amount of snow which never materialized and all the students and teachers were home the next day with bare ground outside?

Nothing like over zealous weathermen and the media to create a non-existing perdicament.

Does no one in this state double check with NOAA? The freezing level shoots up to almost 5000' tomorrow.

I think that was last school year.

A friend of mine who works at a private school got out of work at noon today...she said they closed school early due to the snow prediction

Just got home from driving a fish truck for 6 hrs through a white-out. Knuckles are still white... 35K lbs of water, on ice, isn't cool....

Really? Seems longer ago than that. Of course time passes at a different rate for us on the other side of the hill.

To me, there are two parts... The first part is predicting SNOW vs. RAIN. That seems to me to be really F'n hard--a 2 degree swing and you go from genius to jackass.

Then there's the "precip" vs. "no precip" thing. That's generally pretty well understood (and will be better understood in Sept when the new radar on the coast comes online). The exception being the location of the convergence zone, because it's so susceptible to small changes in wind direction.

We've been at 38 degrees here in Bellevue for the better part of the day, and precip is non-existent.

Good news, it just started to snow here...

The only thing more funny than the total lack of shame for local news when they "report" on power storms is that there are actually tens of thousands of people who watch, and get scared.

Fuckin retarded is what it is.

My favorite part is when they send the lowest of the low on the "reporter" totem pole out to stand on the side of I-90 at Snoqualmie Pass, or Hwy 99 in Lynnwood, or whereverthefuck, and give an eyewitness report on a snowflake.

"As you can see, it's snowing lightly here, the traffic is moving along at the speed limit, and I'm wearing a stupid parka and foul weather hat. Back to you, Dan."
