The people in government that are trying to do something for the people are overwhelmed by those polished politicians gathering favors from the corporations, powerful and politically connected to be used later to sell us to the highest bidder!

Course I may just be a tad pessimistic.

FYI my health insurance company after implementing the new changes required by the Obama plan now charges me about $500 more per month.

Nearly $43,000 per year in health care premiums alone!

That's about 4.5 times what I pay for a year of malpractice insurance.

Thanks, but keep the change.

Whoa guy. The portions of kids on to 26, pre existing conditions and some odds and ends kicked. My insurance went up right with it around 100 a month. The amount will vary as to the increase depending if your a union or private but plans will pass the cost on. You don't increase scope and scale without someone paying.

Be glad when they throw the thing out in court then can it be redone right with a public option or single payer. That the D's did not put a severance clause is beyond belief anyway.

Edit thing. My plan is a union by the way so I suffer less than Doc. grin

No reason to ask me...I don't call judges "activist judges"...you'll have to ask those who throw that term out every time one makes a ruling they don't like.

Gee, you're all getting f.ucked by your insurance companies, and it's because of the health care reform, the majority of which hasn't even been implemented, huh?

Holy sh!t..................could you guys BE any more naive?

Your insurance companies are f'ing you because they can, and now they have an excuse for doing so...................and you're buying it.

Discuss away...just don't call the judge an "activist judge who legislates from the bench" when you don't agree, and shout the ruling from the rooftops when you do agree, when the only difference between what the two judges did...is nothing, except you agree with one, and not with the other.

Where are all those "activist judge" haters? Come on, don't make me search for all of you in the archives...man up and admit that you are one of them!

OK, I did a search on "activist judges". Looks to me like virtually every thread with a reference to "activist judges" was started by Todd or his friends, and Todd seems to be the primary commenter about activist judges. I can't seem to find a thread started by a so-called rwwj that is railing against activist judges.

When a judge makes a ruling that legitimately favors a certain group for political gain, he's an activist judge. Appeasing right wingers, insurance companies and pharmaceutical companies is activism. Appeasing Defenders of Wildlife and granolas in San Francisco is activism.

When a judge makes a ruling based on emotion and personal opinion, he's an activist judge.

Many judges do this -- it's nothing new. Some are fighting for the left, some are fighting for the right. All you have to do is look at their track record to see. Judge Molloy in Montana is a good example of this. Almost all of his rulings have favored environmental groups' emotions, not facts brought forward by researchers in cases from logging to wolves.

Must be insurance companies screwing some of you over. My health plan is with Group Health, and so far no premium or coverage changes that I can see, other than the recent notification that children up to age 26 are covered. But my kids flew from the nest a while back, so they're on their own.

I'm thinking there are two reasons why NHC is flawed. First, Congress isn't highly competent. Second, insurance companies are extremely competent, and excelled at protecting their profit interest in the NHC.

WTF? $3,600 per month for health insurance? A $500 monthly increase because of legislation that hasn't even been enacted yet?

I'm done bitchin' about my recent increase (and my insurance company, for that matter).

I was speaking as an employer.

My plan covers me and three employees.

I also pay the premium on a fourth employee that is covered under gov't subsidized TriCare. I can buy an entire year of TriCare for her whole family for less than what it costs for a single month of our regular plan for one employee.

And as for those who don't/can't understand how these changes could possibly happen BEFORE the legislation is officially enacted, you need to understand that businesses must contract with these insurance companies a year in advance. The insurance companies were already anticipating the cost of PROACTIVELY implementing all of the new changes required by ObamaCare for 2011.

The plans/premiums offered to the business community HAD TO reflect the increased cost of covering all of the ObamaCare mandates.

Ah, yes. You must forgive my ignorance as regards all aspects of small business enterprise management. Thankfully, as a slave to The Man, I have only had the pleasure of paying my own premiums. That said, I still find your figures alarming. My Dad's a doc, and I know they hit you folks especially hard and low when it comes to insurance.

Thanks for the insight into how our recent increases have been related to Obamacare. Makes a lot of sense, even if it sucks. Something tells me that if Obamacare never sees the light of day as implemented policy, we won't be getting any refunds. Bass turds.

Despite many opportunities to downgrade coverage, increase co-pays and deductibles, and raise out-of-pocket maximums along the way, my staff still enjoys a primo Regence plan which I have faithfully maintained at ZERO cost to them.

Just got my renewal quote for my office staff's health insurance for 2012. I about had a coronary!

58,000+ for the year!

Like I said before, keep the change.

Yea and its making me more poorer as the year gets started. Just found out the plan cost is now $50 more per month ... and the out of pocket expenses are now $3000 before the higher percentage kicks in.

Nice "reform" in my eyes ... f'kers

I want to work where you do... mine increased $90/month and the family plan now has a $100 surcharge if the spouse can be covered by another plan... some family plan that is...

basically i'm paying $45/week more than last year and last year they raised it $100/month...

can you imagine the recovery to the economy if you could put even half of that $790/month i'm paying for health care back into my pocket - plus every other working stiff out there... thats alot of recovery

Mine has gone up dramatically every year for the past dozen or so. Damn Obamacare hurt me even before it was a gleam in Obama's eye.

A recent report by The Kaiser Foundation found that Obamacare did increase premiums by approximatly 1 1/5 percent. But policies have been going up more every year by 5-7 percent.

My cost doubled in two years as it is a union retirement plan and the trust has to past cost on preloading as Doc pointed out. When changes are government mandated somebody pays and it ain't Santa!

According to the following average health insurance cost were up 131% in the ten years up to 2009. I told you Obama did that . . . . somehow.

Sounds like you either need a new insurance company, or the insurance system needs to stop raping America.

This is just like the professional negligence insurance problem...i.e. "malpractice" insurance...it's not the fault of those who get injured that it's so expensive, or their attorneys...it's the fault of the insurance companies that most seem to let charge whatever they want without complaining to those who are doing the overcharging...the insurance companies.
