What's this world coming to. It seems that nobody can take a little ribbing any more. Is every body serious.

I don't know about anyone else, but as far as fly vs non-fly fishing ribbing goes, my ribs are getting a little sore. Like the kid sitting behind you in the 3rd grade, flicking your ears. It may be funny the first few times, but after a while, it starts getting old...

I think we should keep this site light hearted and fun as much as possible. But sometimes we should really ask ourselves before we post - "am I providing a positive contribution to this topic by posting this reply??".

I still have an "attitude" that stems from a few of you youngsters on the board. More than willing to pitch in with the attitude, but not enough on the fishing subject. So, if your ribs are sore, there's a reason for it. Think before you write.. it's hard to take things back after you hit the send button.

Wow - if you think someone over 30 is a youngster then you must be ancient!! Just kidding, but come on, 99% of my posts are intended to be helpful, the others (like this) are simply trying to keep things in perpsective. This board should be fun and informative for a diverse group of lake fisherman.

Life is short, and fishing helps many of us enjoy it just that much more. Don't take it so seriously, or you'll just get grumpy and bitter. Smile once in a while, and share it with others around you.

Also...yes.. you're a youngster. Youngster has to do with attitude and maturity regardless of age.

I'd have to count your posts to see if your estimate of "99% is informative". You maybe in the 90's for percent... or close to it.. but don't think 99% is accurate

If having a slightly differing view than you and your buddies means that I have an attitude and maturity problem, then you may need to take a closer look in the mirror. Otherwise kindly point me to the post(s) that have marked me as such so I can better understand your position. And please, keep it in context (ie, look at the post that I'm replying to).

Nope... not in having a different view. Lots of people have different views... my point is in how you POST your differing view.

I look in the mirror every day and know my position on the various methods of fishing and hunting. I don't do certain methods of fishing and hunting, but don't care who else does them... as long as they are legal and ethical.

As for attitudes, there's 3 or 4 people on here that sorta got my attention. Two of them who stood out were you and HBP. I didn't notice your posts on this board before then and you seemed to get off to a bad start. Don't know if you've changed since then.. or if it's just my perception of you. Anyways you've got a way to go to change that.

If you'd check on who you've "miffed" so far you'd see it's a bunch of the original people on this board... like a fair number of the ones who registerd on this board when it switched from it's unregistered format.

So, why don't you take a look in your "mirror" and tell me what you see?

My advice is to take that first step on changing my perception.

Carl - sorry to digress so much from you original post!

Again I ask if you can point me to an example or 2 of the offending posts.

All I can think of is a few times I've taken a stance against someone with an 'elitis' or 'extremist' point of view. No matter what side of the fence you are on, if you come accross as 'my way is the ONLY way' - be it bait, lure, fly, whatever - then i'll be among the first to respectively suggust otherwise.

I respect anyone on this board who chooses to fish according to the regulations, but I have a hard time with anyone who comes accross with a 'holier than thou' attitude - even though I by and large agree with most of what they have to say (the message may be good, but the delivery just needs some work in most instances).

It's a good thing this isn't a popularity contest - because I don't play that game well. But I do try to be respectiful as much as possible to everyone, but I also stand up for those who I feel are being unnecessarily dis-resptected.

So again, if you can give me some specific examples of posts that have 'miffed' anyone out of sheer disrespect, then please show them to me.
