I am going to go fishing Sunday on Pine Lake. I was wondering if I go leave to the lake around noon how busy do you think the lake will be? Also, if I am going for the triploids, is it best to troll or still fish?

I was on Pine Lake last Sunday from about 1 to 3:45. The dock was packed, but there were only five or six boats. The trout were rolling frequently on the surface, and I saw quite a few people catch small ones. We trolled the whole lake with small spoons and didn't even get a nibble, so whatever you do BRING WORMS. That's what they were catching them with.
Good Luck!

I second the worms. Definately troll - but use worms if you want faster action.
This lake also fly fishes well. Black or olive wooly buggers have worked best for me.
Vary your speed and depth to see what's working best. Somestime fast is what gets them, other times drifting with the wind is all you need.
Good luck and post a report.
I'm heading there tomorrow morning so I'll let you know how i do.

hit pine this morning. It was VERY slow. The hits were few and far between and the only fish we caught were the 10 inchers. Fished all the way around the lake, shallow, deep, middle, next to the docks, dry flys, wooly buggers, wedding rings/worms, rapalas, spinners - fast retrieves, slow retreives, various trolling speeds. Until we get a few warm days in a row, I would stick to afternoons and evenings on this lake...

Fished Pine for the first time about a week ago. There was a ton of people on the dock and nobody was catching a thing. We trolled a tiny mister twister worm down about 5-10' down and hit fish after fish. Got 5 or 6 big rainbows(15"+) and a ton of little dinks. Also was suprised by a nice German Brown. For constant action forget all the cowbell, gangtroll crap and keep it simple with a few splits and long leader with a plain ol' nightcrawler and you'll catch pleny of fish. Dont forget your days over when you land 5 with bait. Pine is a pretty cool lake..but i'll stick to my lakes up north

Went out to Pine Lake on Sunday - couldn't get the boat launched because it was too shallow in the launching area!! I am so bummed out!

We went to Wilderness Lake in Maple Valley - found out they do not allow gas motors and that is all I have. It was getting late/dark so we just went home. I am on the look for new lakes in the south end (kent, renton, tacoma, issaquah, north bend area). I am thinking about trying Merdian Lake in Kent.

Once the water temp comes up Meridian will be good. Try Angle, Morton, Spanaway, Washington, and American too. They all allow gas motors and can be good fishing. I have run into the same "no gas motor" problem also. Seems like most lakes in King County don't allow them per city/county ordinances. I did notice at Wilderness people had gas motors hanging off the back but were not using them. Electric motors were used to move around the lake. I think unless it is specifically stated in WDFW regs you can have a gas motor hanging but you better not use it. If WDFW regs say "no gas motors" as part of the Selective Gear Rules then you cannot even have one hanging. I wish WDFW regs would mirror county/city ordinances.
