What do you think is the best downrigger rod for fishing for mostly kings for under a $100? Advice appreciated. I saw this Lamiglass. http://www.croutdoors.com/lamac90dr.html

Convergence Around $70 bucks I really like mine. It's a 10'6" rated 12-25 for lures to 6 ounces. I have it paired up with a shimano 4000 knucklebuster loaded with 60 pound spider wire. Mine has the adjustable reel seat. I don't think they make that set up anymore. There is one that is 12-25 6 to 10 ounce that is too heavy, so look close.
I also have a 10-20 I like for coho.

Fish Doctor 7' Short Stick. Made by Fish Doctor Charters out of Oswego NY. Puts a whooping on the fish fast. Have tried the 8'6 and 9' rods. I prefer a short stick over a longer rod. Cant remember too well but I think they are around $100. Paired up with a Penn LC875 is my go to DR set up.

Shimano convergence. I have two, one for a level wind and on set up with a knuckle buster. Make sure you get the proper handle style for the type of real you are going to use. http://fish.shimano.com/publish/content/..._Steelhead.html

Slabhunter. the Lami classic glass 9' sure has great tip action on my K14's for springers. Lots of movement and a backbone to go with it. Great in the salt for my riggers also, Guess thats why I bought 6 more when sportco had them on sale over the Holidays. Looking at heading down to fish the LC 1st March

i bought a RDR96 rainshadow blank and all the components and wrapped it myself for 70 something dollars. Pretty sure that's the same model of rod that Mark and his dad run out of their boat. More fish landed on those rods than any I can think of.

Convergence gets my vote, have landed Halis up to 110lbs on em and many kings. They keep on ticking after 10+ years with no issues...

Buddy of mine just bought a new Ugly Stik that is 9' 5" and is rated 8-20lb I think its a Medium action, or medium/light.... that thing runs REAL nice on the downrigger. They made them with foam handles instead of cork too which is nice in the DR rod holders.
Might have to get me one.
