Like most, we've seen some shocking video and before/after satellite images of the Japanese tsunami but this one gives you the sense of what it was like to witness the growing sense of "holy shiiit!"

There is something to be said for concrete vs wood framed construction in resisting lateral loads....

Even with a pile of cars and folded up warehouses piled up on the wave side.

Said on another site the comments at 2:55 say there's someone in the water, looks like a small boat running into the current. Wonder if those big white tanks coming in later from a fuel dock..What a mess.

I wonder what kind of CFS were talking about. There were parts in the North where the wave went 6 miles inland. Sure is nice not see looting and other illegal activities. What would happen if a Tsunami hit Los Angeles ?

Yep. Thinking about all those hundreds of thousands of doomed bastards caught on the ground floor.

It's sort of different than the Sumatran tsunami though. This one is almost like the land sank and the ocean rushed in more than a big slop of water coming up onto land.

watching that stop and run back out would have been even uglyer i fear.
Could you imagin being seperated from your family and watching that run your neighborhood.

It's amazing the power involved. I'm amazed at how long and how well modern cars will float.

Japan just issued another Tsunami warning....another 6.5.

Best footage yet.The bay level warehousein the distance had to be 30-40 feet tall, and the big concrete structure had several floors covered. Looked to have a surge of ?? 60 feet? I had read "10 meters" or ~33 feet, but this seems bigger.

Impressed...

Saddened...

Humbled....
