I finally got a King for myself. It was only 10 lbs. But I am not complaining. Saw about a half dozen fish caught right at the tide change (07:15).
One guy we passed nailed a 30 lber. This was his second fish, first one was 20 lbs., and he was headin' home.

I normally troll with just an 8oz weight in the morning. But after seeing fish being netted I knew the bite was on so we switched to the downriggers set at 50 and 60 feet. Not even ten minutes later...FISH ON!

Yo Carl,

I was "SKUNKED!," unless you count
dogfish and sanddabs! and they didn't even
break the dr loose!
I left Elliott at 1PM,
not even a bite! The fish counter
said only 49 kings were taken!,
and 11 silvers. I've only caught 1
king so far(since Elliott has been open!)
Everything else has been silvers?
Thinkin' about headin' to Dolphin Point
Sunday.

Ken

Kennyray, don't give up so soon! The run is just gettin' going. I saw quite a few huge fish caught today. You just gotta make sure your line is in the water at sunrise and at any tide change. Are ya using cut plug herring or white/glow hoochies? Those seem to be the #1 big King getters.

today i was one of the lucky few that caught what turned out to be a 8# king. i started at 430, off the water at 900. so you may ask how is a king thats only 8# lucky? nobody was catching much of anything, and besides it was only the second king i've boated ever. got her on a triangular flasher/ herring plug at 90 ft in the exact same spot i caught one last week and hooked three more nice fish( infront of todd's between the east and west channels, out about 150 yards)

yesterday i was out from about 300 to 800, had a nice fish on, even got to see it, then it shook off. frown

all in all i'm still having a lot of fun out there and it seems that the wait is well worth it when you get into one. laugh

easy, any bottom fish luck? the wind was to much for me.

My buddy Blair got this 10lb. king on the tide change at 70 feet in front of the mouth of the Green. Kind of small like my fish yesterday. Besides the fish Sushi caught, we saw only one other fish caught and that was at first light.

The bottom fishing was good for rockfish. The wind got to us too.

Hey Carl,

Whe hit it at 4am, had one on at
5:30, lost it. Headed over to
Dolphin Point, but the wind was pretty
tough. The speedometer said we were
doing almost 5mph with the motor off!
The good news was that the herring were
flying out of the water all around us,
and we marked salmon at 50 ft.
But no fish!
Headed back to Elliott, just to bottom
fish around Todd, like you mentioned.
Man, you weren't kiddin'!
We must have had 20 rockfish on in
30-45 minutes! Had to leave though,
buddy's wife was pissed off at him confused
I'll be back Friday!

Ken laugh

I have a beige and red striped 14' aluminum w/ a Yamaha 15 four stroke hangin' off the back. I usually fish right in the mouth or next to the pilings that hold up TODD. I should be out there after 4 pm. Wave if you see me.

Sounds good! I be in a 20ft searay, blue in color. I'll stop by and check in. Should be launching about 6:30 or so.

just got in from elliot. i caught a 14# king right at high tide this morning, saw lots caught then, virtually none after. i released two little kings 20". overall it was a good morning out, i'm just waiting until the bite lasts for more then half an hour. the fish i caught was about 50 yards straight out from the coast gaurd boat thats being painted at todd's.

fish checker said 37 caught out of 54 boats, and every boat that pulled out after me had more then one in the cooler, all around 12 to 20#. one guy had a king that was just over 20# after a seal took its share.

i'll be out in the morning if my wife doesn't kill me when i tell her! good luck all, let us know how you do tonight. tight lines.

Right on Sushi! Looks like the peak of the run is finally here. Funny how they only bite on the tide change, isn't it?

BTW, did you get a pix of your fish?
