Ike just mentioned this to me-Wow what a shock and how very sad The only condolences I can come up with is that Sol lived every day to the max and got the most out of every day and every adventure of which he enjoyed so many. Even as a newby on this board Tim always made me feel like I was one of his oldest friends and when I posted a question or a problem would always make sure I got it answered or resolved. He invited me into this PP brotherhood and was a springboard for many of the friends I've made here. RIP Tim.

Condolences to Tim's family. He was one of the characters who made this BB an entertaining and informative place to be. I never met him, but his threads and posts were terrific! I can't help but think he gave Big Bob more than his share of grey hair for his posts, but that was Sol.
Plus, just based on the pics on this BB, he caught more big salmon and steelhead than I ever will, even if I live to be 100. Make that 200.......

I never met Sol either but he was the one that got me interested in this PP site. He absolutely cracked me up on many occasions. I have missed his posts. There have been and continue to be "Sol Wannabe's" here trying pretty hard but I can't see it happening. Just too high of a bar was set. My thoughts are with his family and friends. R.I.P. Jimmy

Speechless......
I used to come to this board, JUST to read Sol's funny & quick witted posts. Often blunt, and right to the point, but usually dead nutz on, and worth the read.
My first time out trying it on the bank at the Tall Timbers hole, a bunch of Jacka**'s came drifting by dropping M-80's in the water, shooting potatoes, spraying water and wearing viking helmets. And so I was introduced to the SRC, and (sort of) met Sol the first time on the river (nothing personal 'boutthe Jackazz comment fellas....I didnt know then what i know now).
I remember when Sol had the guts to post publicly to the board that he was an alcoholic. Shortly after that I saw him at the pullout on the bogie. Struggling with the same myself, I told him how much I admored his courage, and thanked him for his honesty. The second, and last time I met Sol. What a nice guy he was about it.
I didnt know Sol at all. But through this board, I did. Though I didnt always agree with it, I honestly admired and respected the life that he led.
So many lives touched, and he didnt even know it. ...........RIP Sol.

Hey, who you callin' a Jacka**? I resemble that remark! The fishing sure didn't get any better after the punkin bomb...but at least you only got it in one hole, he chased us into Crescent and did Bomb #2 after our team landed two in a row in front of his Tim was the first one I fished with thru what became two of my favorite drifts on the OP...thanks for that, buddy, I'll think of you every time I drift them. Fish on... Todd

I just found out this morning about Tim, I'm saddened and heart broken. tim had a great sense of humor and called it as he saw it, no BS and didn't mince words. When I was going through my divorce, he and I talked many times. In his own way he told me things would work out for the better and to remember it would just give me more time on the water. One of the last times I saw Tim was when Richard, Scott and I stopped by his place after a day on the Sol Duc. We stopped by, shot the sh!t, laughed that he had his Harley parked in the house! As Robbo mentioned, during one of the SRC's...we see this pumpkin floating down the Bogey...smoke coming out of the cap. We didn't have much time to process what was going on when the thing exploded, sending the lid out of sight and clearing that section of the river. Never laughed so hard in my life...
Rest in peace, my sympathy to his daughters, I have two of my own and know that they are my greatest gifts in the world.
God bless...
Kev

Dang. All can think of is why? Never met him, but after reading 99% of his posts I always LMAO. Right before he left PP, he seemed to be in the best physical shape he'd been in (for awhile anyway).

Is a Celebration of Sol's Life or Memorial Service planned or scheduled? Anybody know Tim's last wishes? Ashes in the Sol Duc or someplace else like in BC?

I don't know about a river in the sky, but I have heard of the Lake of Fire that awaits those who don't repent.
IMO, Tim's finest moment was not on the river or speaking his piece on this board, but in humbly admitting his own human frailty. This takes a lot of strength and courage and showed his true heart. I saw it as powerful testimony and an encouragement for us all.
Getting old or real ain't for wimps and while he may not have gotten old he did get real. Sol was no wimp and in the end he showed us there is more to being a man than catching a lot of fish and having it your own way.
Tim and I talked a few times about this day we all face. Like most of us here, he did not spare his opinion, but unlike many he also listened.
Praise God, who created Tim and extends mercy and comfort to those that would receive it.

I too only knew Tim through the board and PM's. I enjoyed his personal style and the spice that he brought to the board. I felt honoured that some people thought EnglishPete was actually Sol when I first railed people on the board. In one small way, I almost could hang with the best.
You are pure spirit now Tim, we'll meet again.

Said "Adios Amigo" to Sol yesterday, like said, the circumstances were not ideal....but that was Sols choice and not ours, Sol ended his own life as his final act of being in control of his life in this life, seems he had met all the challenges this earth had to offer and felt the need to move on to a world that he saw himself fitting into better than here.... I hope it works out for ya' old buddy. In watching the slide show of Sol's life I was moved to remember the good ol' days of Sol and stam, and the early days of Steve and Tim before that, he was the guy that when he called, whether it was hunting season or fishing.. you always answered, and I'm glad I was always the guy that he called.. The enthusiasm and energy the times and adventures will always be remembered as good times even if a fair portion of that time was dealt with through gritted teeth, Sol wasn't always the easiest to hang with, always right and never in doubt of it...even when he was wrong.....at the end of the day it *usually* was worth it. Sol pushed me to be better than I wanted to be, I just flat out never cared as much as him and much of the success I had in fishing was directly attached to his push to make every float on every river a surgical strike, the fish we caught together were many and large, he handed me B.C. on a platter and I felt lucky that I drew that straw, his legacy lives on through us that fished with him, Matt and Neal, Jon and myself will continue to head north to sample B.C.'s bounty and there won't be too many days on the northern rivers where his name won't come up. ...once again, I hope you found what you are looking for Sol. stam wfo.... Go hard....or, go home.

Bravo Stam, Just Bravo. Your memories put chills on my skin. I feel your pain brother. You are a good man and were obviously the kind of true friend that a guy is blessed to have.
