I fished Sekiu this last weekend for salmon in the new boat. Thing works good and the GPS makes
fishing in the fog not a problem.

I did stop in the marine store in town as I needed a fuse for my downrigger. It goes down good
with a blown fuse... but the coming up from 100 foot is something else.

Oh.. the funny lure. The guy in the marine store was selling a bead lure for salmon. It was a 5/0 red
hook with four beads above it. The beads were alternating clear red and solid black. Beads were
about .35 or .40 inch. The leader was about 14-16 inches long.

This guy swore by those bead lures for catching salmon and he got another "catch" in the store. I
bought one. Funny thing is those things work. I caught some fish on them.

Any one else hear of such a thing??? Beads for salmon??? My guess is this simulates krill. Only thing
I could think of.

I filed a Sekiu report with Mike and if anyone wanted to fish there, this next weekend should be
real good if we get some rain this week.

Sounds like a sockeye rig to me. That is pretty close to how I rig my hooks for sockeye. Just throw a small dodger in front of it.

Yep, beads do work. I think you are right about simulating krill. I wonder how this rig would work in the Sound or on the rivers?

The old man in that store ties them up himself , got me for the 2.99 also. I was there 2 weeks ago and herring was the ticket. Tried them for a while, the herring rods kept popping so I switched back over. I do believe these beads do work in large schools, however, " When there in thick you can get them on a plug cut hotdog." laugh laugh laugh
Just my $.02!!
