The chum are pretty thick in the lower green right now . Lots of fish with crome still on them. Even the colored are very spunky. A few descent silvers are still around but the chum dominate the holes. I went thursday and sunday and today. Thursday and Sunday were kick azz. Sunday i hooked 8 or 9 and kept one. Took awhile to figure out what they wanted. Tried everything you hear about, but nothing worked. After wasting 2 hours i finally fell back on my goto river lure. A 1/8th oz white rooster with shrimp oil on it. They just hammered it all day. Lost alot of fish though cuz the single cut treble was so small. But it never bent. I just drifted it slowely in the tailout. It was alot of fun. Now i can say i actually caught a chum and didn't snag it. All smiles from here on.

There's quite afew fish from 180th up. Lots holding in the deeper pools. Most are very active and have been attacking, not gumming the lures/corkies. On sunday they were thick just below the golf course. Today i fished the 277th hole and there were still quite afew fish there but not nearly as many as sunday. Stopped in at the upper park hole just above the golf course(south) and saw a few nice schools charging up river. Cool to watch. They sure don't seem to want to hit anything when they are in the shallows. BBVD, drive the auburn golf course road and you'll find plenty of uncongested waters, well atleast on the weekdays.(from downtown kent go south on central and take a left at the light next to the corvette/mustang dealer) Seems as though everyone is hording around the 277th bridge hole. The rest of the river up to the carbody hole was wide open today. Strawberry patches have been a bit crowded, even on weekdays. Not as many fish up that high though. Soon to be though. Another great hole that was wide open is the newspaper hole(s). If your in kent, drive south on Washington street. Cross the kent/desmoines freeway and take your first left and drive down a bit. Lots of room. If you crossed the river, you went too far. Hope that helps. Flourecent yellow corkie and orange/yellow jigalou have been hot.

Hey what does Non-Bouyant lure restriction mean? I noticed it on the Green River regs... Hey we found this area FFF... Tried it out... And corkies did NOT WORK!!! It sucked, even though they were rolling right there. I think I picked up one of your rooster tails though, a white one Snagged it and thought I was pulling up a body... Hey, it is the green river. Any tips on getting these suckers? I saw probably 30 rolls in about an hour... Thanks Curtis

the non-bouyant definition is on page 14 of the regs...it means that if your lure does not float you are allowed only one single hook...you should be using single hooks anyway, they hook deeper and hold better than trebles.
i was at metzler park this afternoon, it was crowded for a weekday and i didn't see any fish caught...then i went down to the carbody hole, lots of really dark silvers finning around. the water is up and a little more stained than usual.

BBVD, well last time i was down there i only got one bite on my rooster tail and the guy next to me had a 3 foot leader small flourescent yellow corkie and a size 2 redoctopuss hook on and he landed 4. But i used this same setup and got nothing but i hooked them on the rooster. So all i can say is keep changing colors or lures. It took me a while before i tried the rooster. But i hooked up on my third cast. So i stuck with it. Their tastes sure change from day to day.
I went down today and they were everywhere, but i didn't fish. River is up a bit more.

Try a jig under a bobber or corky and yarn.

Just kind of a Green River report/update. I've fished around the last few days looking for winter fish. Caught a couple late chum near Auburn, one was a chromer. Also caught two summer run steelhead. Ugly things, they were spawners and had a "please kill me" expression on their face. Anybody found any winter fish yet?

The Mid lower Green is just packed with fresh chrome chum believe it or not.
I fished monday, tuesday, thursday and hooked into a good 40 or more. There are lots of big fish around too. I got a 15.5 tuesday on a #70 red/yellow hotshot. And too many 10#ers to count on a white roostertail drifted really slow. Thursday they wern't interested in the rooster or hotshot so i bowed down to the corkie and yarn and hooked alot of hens. My buddy got 4 hens in 4 casts on pink corkie and purple yarn. All in the mouth. We tied on some guitar wire and made a nice weedguard on the #4 gami, never snagged a fish or lost a rig up from then on. Worked great. There was no guessing weather it was a strike or a snagfish.
We kept 2 fat hens and noticed as we left that the bellies had wrinkles up by the pec fins. Thought nothing of it but when we cut them open the eggs just spilled out. Both were chrome bright. I don't understand. The meat was great though.

FFF - ran into that same problem with fish from Hoodsport. Seemed strange. Send me an e-mail on where you were fishing. Sounds like it is worth the trip.

I was just looking at the USGS's site for water flow in the Green. Right now the river is flowing at 200 fps (feet per second). Average for this time of year is 2300 fps. <img border="0" alt="[fragile]" title="" src="graemlins/fragile.gif" />
