Hey all,
The WDFW access area and boat launch at American Lake was under lock and key today.
Anybody know why?
There was a pro-troop rally near the National Gaurd gate in Tillicum, but otherwise there was no good reason.
I will be emailing the dept. to see what's up.

Hmmm, interesting. I know the base has fenced off (reclaimed) more than half of the WDFW parking area.

I am sorry for the experience you had at the American Lake site.



After a twenty year lease, this site reverted to the Department of Military who preform the operation and maintenance of the facility. The Department of the Military also has the responsibility for security and patrols the site.



Part of our agreement does require a decal requirement for the purpose of an enforcement presence as an deterrent for the problems associated with access sites. This decal also grants access to the entire statewide system of access sites provided by the Department and proceeds of decal sales are allocated to their maintenance.



I would refer you to the Department of Military at Camp Murray for information regarding the American Lake site.

Why is the American lake access area and boat launch in Tillicum(Lakewood) closed today?(2-01-03)

I planned a family trip there and was routed after a considerable drive.
