Working vacation this week. Took some time off this week and found a side job from a friend needing to get his home weathered in before fall. Originally a 3,200 SF home, expanded to 6,500 SF. This week everybody is working to get it weather in. Lovely view of the Willapa Valley.

Yesterday.

Today.

Just started this run this afternoon.

Over 15 square of shingles to install. Stainless staples. Pre-dipped, ultraquality #1's. Almost a shame to cut them, but with the latest run I am able to make use of the end cuts.

I love working with wood.

Hey nice work I'm getting closer to siding on this old house, only had to jack up a corner and replace 20ft of post and pier. We have already ripped out an old picket fence, had lots of fun with a bobcat. Wirings done and a new bathroom, just need to replace the front porch with something more period and put on a deck. Maybe this year maybe not, backs not holding up well. Last house I'm doing of course I said that last house.

Some serious bling. Must be fun working with all the best stuff. Beautiful to look at. Also way, way out of my league. Dandy work, DF. The owner's gonna be happy.

A few more photos.

Finished this today. Sorry about the mess, but it shows how many cuts were needed to cover that area.

Earlier work in context with the whole house, and with the frieze boards in place.

My canvas for the next 3 days.

Excellent, DF.
The architect did a nice job as well....I like the pitches and the continuity.

I'm on a commercial roof (US Gov't) presently, with Safety Watchers, Safety Spotters, warning lines, tie downs, retractors, harnesses, hard hats, roofers, welders, plumbers and Fire Watchers.
We can barely move to do our work at times.

Gone are the days of the rigging axe and the "Top Plate Shuffle" in tennis shoes.

I wore cargo shorts, socks & boots, and a hat today. Brought a few carpet scraps to work on instead of wearing kneepads to avoid the sweaty chaffing. The shirt came off around 10am. Amazing how sweaty you get moving between the saw and the wall in 75 degree weather. One section was no joy at all, literally every piece had to be cut to size, 100+, for a small area about 8' long by 5' high. Window frame detail, rising roof lines, a light block, and a few other tricks. My "angle finder" got a workout today.

Lost 9 lbs so far this week.

Yeah, there are a few spots around that entry that are gonna take some time to cut and fit everything. Looking good though.

Wish I had a project like that. I have been doing a string of rot repair jobs. . . .. I want something nice an clean that requires some finesse. ...

Yep that is envy you smell. . .

Job looks great, chimney looks a tad low to get a good draw to get the fire started though.
