Sad day for the M's and all of Seattle. R.I.P Rick. I used to catch bags of peanuts from him back in the 'dome years and on in to the Safe. If you could see him, all one had to do was yell out "Hit me, Rick!" and he'd behind-the-back toss you bag of nuts from what seemed like miles away. Bag always seemed to hit you right in your hands, too. He was a Seattle Icon and a hell of a nice guy. He will be missed by many. http://www.komonews.com/news/local/126266188.html

I guess I never sat in the right section, so I never had the honor of catching one of his throws, but I heard about his accuracy many times throughout the years.

I bet many thousands of us have caught a bag of peanuts from him over the years... Maybe the boys could win one for him. Already did...we whooped up on the Yankees this morning, 9-2. Fish on... Todd

Seems to me that Seattle has, in many ways, been pretty lucky with its sports teams, and folks associated with them. May not have won a lot of rings, but (and I am sure I'll miss a few)
Announcers like Blackburn, Dave, and Pete Tuba man Rick Players who were not only good, but good citizens and gave back to the community such as Freddy Brown, Jamie Moyer, Alvin Davis, Steve Largent, and on and on.
When our son was being treated for a childhood cancer there was an annual Christmas Party put on for Children's Hospital clinic kids. Every year there were Seahawks and Seagals there to sign autographs, have pictures taken, and suchlike.
Personally, I would rather have a team that doesn't will all that much but uis made up of quality people than a collection of thugs.

Blast from the past...I can vividly remember catching backhand tosses from 40+ yards via the Peanut Guy while sitting in the cheap seats as a Pepsi Junior Mariner. For 1 Proof of Purchase of a Pepsi product and a couple of bucks you got yourself 5 tickets to Mariner games, in addition to some serious swag...like a M's patch and batting glove. My buddies and I, 10 years old at the time, would get dropped off at the Kingdome and picked up at the end of the game by our parents. That's how things were in Seattle back in 1978. My how things have changed.
R.I.P Peanut Guy....
