The US Army Corps of Engineers is doing maintenance work on the diversion dam immediately downstream of I-5, from now till the end of September. Flows will be reduced to 30cfs in Koch Slough and a picket weir (downstream) and coffer dam (upstream) will prevent all adult salmonids from transiting the Slough (if things go according to plan). This is a fairly significant closure (5+ river miles), and folks are encouraged to read and abide by the emergency regulation below:

Unfortunately, the northern channel of the mainstem that will be open to fishing during the maintenance work has limited public access points. Please respect private property when accessing the river.

On the upside, the preseason forecast for the Stillaguamish is quite encouraging on the pink (697,000) and coho (60,000) fronts. No chum opportunity this year however, so don't wait to get out on the river.

I should add, don't wait AFTER 9/1. It is closed for salmon retention until then....
