Anyone have info or contact numbers on Issacsons Ranch. It's near Cooley City and I understand it has a private fishery, might be open to public I'm not sure. Any help would be much appreciated.

Wes,

Try checking with your local fly shop. George Cook (last I knew) holds the lease for the ranch. I can't imagine he'd let that lease go.

Any shop that sells Sage rods know's how to get in touch with George. He's a Sage rep.

Troutfisherman gave a good contact # here.

I think Darc (from this shop) is a part-time guide for George on the lake.

I have fished them several times. The small lake is VERY small. The big one is pretty darn big. Not astetically pleasing, but good numbers of big trout. Average size when I fished was 14-18 inches. But MUCH larger fish are available. Yes it is fly fishing only.

Looks like this place is going to get more popular! I just saw it written up in a nice article by Dave Graybill in Salmon-Trout-Steelheader Magazine!

The one great thing is that this is a managed fisherie. 8-10 folks a day, 4 day's a week. But I'm sure they would be quite happy to have all 4 day's booked well in advance.

I guess i just dont understand why you would pay to catch trout. This ranch is near some of the best trout fishing in the state. With out having to pay to fish. Lake lenore , Dry falls, Grimes lake are fly fish only lakes. Tons of other lakes that are open to any kind of fishing. I fished jameson last year and took home 9 fish for the frying pan the 9 fish cleaned weighted in at 21 pounds. I released over a hundred trout in three days. Yeah these lakes get crowded but head over during the week days and some days you hardly see a sole.
