I use to get real excited for the trout opener, but every year I lose more interest. This year I got into steelhead, and now that's all I think about. cool Summer will roll around, and I'll be chasing salmon. The trout will just have to wait.

I agree with you HBP, Besides the few trips we will make to mar-don, the trout will have to wait. This summer is salmon and steelhead. beer hello hello

I use the stocking reports to target the bigger triploids. They aren't as fun as catching a big steelhead, but on an ultralight rod, they will help pass the time.

There great for kids but I don't get excited about stockers anymore. Not when theres bass, salmon, and steelhead to be caught. Dang, I even have more fun perch fishing.

I could never understand why people seem to chase the hatchery truck. Why not just swipe a net and scoop out a few as they come right out of the tank? Boy, I sure want to catch a limit of mushy, ignorant 9 inch trout that don't know what to eat in the 'wild' and are so hungry they'd bite on a piece of hot dog! Sign me up! Not.

Geeeez! I am glad I won't see any of you guys out there fishing for these fish. I don't understand how people can be so "down" on a fishing oppurtunity. But then again, you guys probably don't like to fish for chum salmon either because there are too many of them. cry

What are you going to do? Fish for steelhead in a blown out river?? laugh

Easy,
I didn't say I'll never fish for trout again. I said they'll have to wait. Most steelhead in my area is closed right now anyways. But most of puget sound is open for BM.

Carl,

Are you the guy I saw mentioned as contributing for the local triploid releases?

Saw that somewhere and thought it was you.

We headed out to a local area kids only lake today that was just stocked with 2000 3 per pound fish. Hooked one, but saw a project in the making. I wonder if the WDFW would let my hours of blasting cormorants count towards my AHE hours? (I wish) There were over 50 cormorants on this little 10 acre lake doing much better than we were.

If the fish are bigger do those birds still eat them or do they leave the bigger fish alone.
