I use to get real excited for the trout opener, but every year I lose more interest. This year I got into steelhead, and now that's all I think about. Summer will roll around, and I'll be chasing salmon. The trout will just have to wait.

I use the stocking reports to target the bigger triploids. They aren't as fun as catching a big steelhead, but on an ultralight rod, they will help pass the time.

Easy, I didn't say I'll never fish for trout again. I said they'll have to wait. Most steelhead in my area is closed right now anyways. But most of puget sound is open for BM.

Carl,
Are you the guy I saw mentioned as contributing for the local triploid releases?
Saw that somewhere and thought it was you.

We headed out to a local area kids only lake today that was just stocked with 2000 3 per pound fish. Hooked one, but saw a project in the making. I wonder if the WDFW would let my hours of blasting cormorants count towards my AHE hours? (I wish) There were over 50 cormorants on this little 10 acre lake doing much better than we were.

If the fish are bigger do those birds still eat them or do they leave the bigger fish alone.

Don't know for sure. Depends on the size of the lake and size of the fish. I am sure there is some sort of commorant buffet in the beggining. <img border="0" alt="[Goldfish]" title="" src="graemlins/goldfish.gif" />

It has been documented that a double crested cormorant can swallow catfish as large as 2#. Given that the cats typcially lock their spines that would be some mouth full.

I'm headed to both rosinger and flowing tomorrow for some cnr trout fishing. Like many of you I prefer steelhead and salmon fishing. I want to scout it out and bring my nephews this w/e . I want to make sure they get hooked on fishing!

Morton is out on the east hill of Kent. It is a nice little lake. Last time I was there you could use gas motors on the lake too.

Thanks Easy Limits. I suspect you already knew there is a guide service in Alaska called Easy Limits. In fact he's a friend of mine. He's a great fisherman, but sometimes, when the skunk is on the boat, he wishes he hadn't called himself Easy Limits.

If the lake you are looking for is not listed in the Regs than it is open year round.
