Why the US was downgraded...
• U.S. Tax revenue: $2,170,000,000,000 • Fed budget: $3,820,000,000,000 • New debt: $ 1,650,000,000,000 • National debt: $14,271,000,000,000 • Recent budget cut: $ 38,500,000,000
Let's remove 8 zeros and pretend it's a household budget:
• Annual family income: $21,700 • Money the family spent: $38,200 • New debt on the credit card: $16,500 • Outstanding balance on the credit card: $142,710 • Total budget cuts: $385

Except...a government isn't a family, nor is it a business.
That being said, I think we'd all like to see those things evened up.
Fish on...

It all boils down to this - I'm right, everyone else is wrong, and anyone who disputes this is clearly a dumbfuck.

Everyone wants to balance the budget.
Nobody wants their gravy to be included in the cuts necessary to do so.

Let's remove 8 zeros and pretend it's a household budget:
• Annual family income: $21,700 • Money the family spent: $38,200 • New debt on the credit card: $16,500 • Outstanding balance on the credit card: $142,710 • Total budget cuts: $385
• Annual family income: $21,700 - with a minority of family members refusing to allow anyone to get more hours at work to increase revenue. • Money the family spent: $38,200 - with a minority of family members refusing to stop buying the big ticket items and stating we can solve the fiscal problems by not using toilet paper and letting the dog fend for itself. • New debt on the credit card: $16,500 • Outstanding balance on the credit card: $142,710 - most of which was placed on the credit card by the people who now seem very concerned about the debt... but when they were in charge of the credit cards they stated "debts don't matter!" • Total budget cuts: $385 - saving money on toilet paper and dog food while continuing to purchase flat screens and big dually pickups. the fact is that the downgrade was not caused entirely by the actual fiscal numbers but by the behavior of politicians, many of whom refuse to compromise and sign stupid f'ing pledges to lobbyist groups instead of representing the american people.
