Got fishing on the Potholes for the first time for walleye on Friday.

Shoot... we looked like pros the way we caught fish. Okay.. the guy with me looked like a pro. I got schooled on some of the subtlety of fishing for walleye as the guy I was with caught a limit before I got my first strike.

Turned out he wasn't lifting his rod as much as I was and the walleye liked very little movement that day.

Once I found his "key" I got in them. Funny, I'd never found Sprague lake fish that way....

One other thing I noticed is I seem to have an extra 3 inches built in to my eye measuring of fish. Found out I'd estimated them a little bigger than the tape measure did.

Fish were real tasty. Tartar sauce was involved.

Fish were in Crab Creek in about 12-16 feet of water and in the channel right up next to the underwater brush. Find brush on the fishfinder, get just to the edge of it and you'd spot fish.. and get bites. Some of them I'd spot on the fishfinder, tell my buddy to get ready for a hit, and bam... there the fish was.

Worms and white spinner blades were working for us, and just about no rod movement.
