Sprague Lk. between Ritzville and Cheney has 'cats', they fish for them at night. The lake also has 'wallys', sm bass, crappys, blue gill and big trout. About a 5 hr drive from Auburn. Camping facilities and launching at both ends.
Give a report if you go..... laugh

Riffe is either hot or cold. A downrigger is very handy to find fish when they are deep. Remember they are not kokanee, but rather landlocked silver salmon. Kokanee are landlocked sockeye. Swofford is a weedy shallow mess most of the time. I wouldn't waste time there. Riffe is much better.

Channel cats...I know they are there, and know a couple of guys that used to catch 'em, cant help ya though.
As far as bullhead cats, we always fished the Rainey crk area for them. Fish in the creek around wherever the mouth is (i.e. about lake level). We always used a night crawler on the bottom with a slipsinker and/ or a bobber.
Used to kill on the smallies there by using a nightcrawler Texas rigged under a bobber with no weight and drifting it through the bare rocky patches in the weeds.

If you live up north, Gissberg Ponds has some giant channels. It's north of Everett. I've caught channels there up to 10 pounds. Just hang onto your rod!

i have seen you posting quite a few times asking about cat fishing. black lake near olympia is loaded with bullhead cats. the deepest part of the lake is around 26 ft. you can look it up in the topo maps section of this forum. worms is the best bait for them.
