We are heading across the mountains for Memorial Day weekend. I am arguing with a friend that is coming along about the regs of this lake.

I can't find it in the regs anywhere so I assume it is year round because it's not listed.

Also on the Lake index here at Washington Lakes.com it talks about the April Kokanee.

So is it open? He says last year it had closed signs. Could this have been specific to last year and not this year?

Just wondering what to pack. Also is this lake too big for a float tube? Or should I just bank it?

The regs do show Wenatchee river up to the lake is CLOSED but no mention of the lake itself.

Thanks

The lake is open year around. The closed signs that you are talking about might be at where the river leaves the lake and at the head where the inlet comes in(Little Wenatchee River). But all salmon must be released, including all the Kokes. Found this info on page 128 of the regs. slap

Just checked on it's size and it is 2445 acres. I don't think a float tube is big enough. You could get lost in the waves if the wind ever came up.

You are under the same thought as I am. Thanks for the input. I also checked the size after I posted. I don't like to float any lake that allows boats. Although I have head the Lake does have some little coves that my spark my attention. Might just go camp and skip the fishing but I will bring the rods just in case I see something interesting.,

Thanks Old Man

By the boat launch at the state park there is a small island with several large rocks that force the boaters to go slow until they get to the main lake. That might be a spot to try. The water can be cold as the lake has glacier run off.

BTW, please everyone, do not depend on stuff written on this web site for regulation info. It can be out of date or just plain wrong! Always go by the WDFW regs booklet.

If you are going to be in that neck of the woods, go across the street to fish lake .
Much smaller and less crowded, good fishing from a floattube. Fish the east and south ends of the lake.

Fish Lake would be a much better bet for a floattube. Ya still gotta be careful over there, the wind at Fish can really get howling.

Fish lake would be the place to go if you want to use a float tube. There are alot of fish in that lake, and the lake isnt very big so they arent hard to catch. Once the wind picks up get off the lake or you will be in for a ride. And if you do get caught in the wind it wont be long before you hit the shore.
