I need to gets some parts for my two rigs. It seems prices varies greatly depending on which store you visit. Who have you found in Seattle or on the eastside that offers the best parts pricing?
Thanks,
SF

Depends on the part or parts as well. If you don't want to gamble on repeat trips because it doesn't work or it doesn't fit then I'd go with NAPA.

Smog pump was the same brand as Autozone.

After my emission fiasco, the part was never used and returned with no issues. Something else burned up. The hose is now plugged and the check engine light will remain on for the rest of this cars life. I can fail emissions for the cost of $150 every other year. F-em

One of the parts I'm looking for the is spare tire retainer for a Ford Explorer. The guy a NAPA referred to it as a "non consumable" part and is only available through Ford dealers. Non consumable implies to me it should rarely if ever break. We'll this is the third one to go bad on my vehicle. Piss poor design in my opinion.
Nothing like having four feet of cable and receiver hanging out from under your rig that you can't wind up. Can you say sparks and brush fire along I-5?
I'm glad I had some 20 lb Maxima in the rig with me to tie it up underneath. wink

Yeah, that does sound like a dealer part.
It also sounds like there should be a (Ford) Tech Service Bulletin for this failed design.

Sounds like the Arm Rest bracket of the 98, and other years, Ranger/Explorers. The well known flawed design meant it would break over time and good luck finding one at a junk yard. You can only order them through Ford and it's the same will break over time bracket. if it's a known issue and you find some at a junk yard buy them all before someone else does.

Sounds to me without seeing it that you need someone to beef it up instead of constantly replacing it.

That is a great link! I just used it to order a driver's side power mirror. That baby is going in my Favorites, for sure.

Back when I was stuck driving worn out piles of schit, I was on a first name basis at many junk yards up and down I-5.

Matter of fact, I pretty much restored a '78 Celica out of crap I pulled off wrecks with a 14mm socket and a gerber multitool.

Word of warning, the guys at I-5 Auto Wrecking are real azzholes. Don't ask any questions except "Mind if I take a look?"

Nothing makes you feel schittier than trying to impress a date in a car that the battery mount is so corroded out, that every time you take a right turn too hard, the battery falls against the engine arcing the positive post and causing clouds of yellow steam to belch out that you have to throw open the hood, shove your face down into the acidic fumes, and try to heave that b*tch back up into the bungie cords and coat hangers your rigged up, all on a dark shoulder in the middle of the night.

Maybe that's why Hank is always so crabby. His '76 Pinto with the Ford/Dole sticker does it every morning.
