7 of us are heading to Bumping Lake this weekend and want to cath some kokanee. How do we fish for them? What do we need?

Thanks.

Got the PM... No turkeys this year frown

The main factor that I've noticed for kokes is depth. If you have a fish finder, that shouldnt be to hard... Lately around here, whether this is helpful or not, it's been 20-25 feet.

The next thing is keeping everything small. Small line, leaders, hooks (I use gammie 8 or 10 octopus), and bait. Bait is typically maggets and a small piece of pb or an egg. worms work just as well really.

For lures use a wedding ring ( I usual change the hooks and add a gamagatsu (spelling?). But, even better is to buy the double whammy wedding rings already with a two hook setup and add a piece of worm on the last hook. Works like a charm.

For kokes I use a couple of different techniques:

*Troll chartreuse or red wedding rings tipped with white corn behind pop gear or Ford Fender. (use a small rubber snubber, too) If you use leaded line and have two or more guys fishing, experiment with depth. If you have a downrigger, put a small thin-bladed spoon(needlefish, dick nite) on it all by itself but troll it among the popgear. A big koke on an ultralite rod with no popgear is a blast. beer

It was so hot out saturday morning that we only went out for a few hour's, but we got 2 nice cuthroat's, 5 dollie's and 2 whitefish released them all and had a great time.
