Are these downriggers any good? I just want them to take out on small lakes with my 12 foot aluminum...

I can't spend to much, just got myself a project truck for restoration... so cash is next to nil laugh

I have two of the scottys for my lake boat. They work fine. About 50 feet is their limit (I think they have 100 feet on them but who needs that much for most lake rainbows). The counters begin to lose accruacy after awhile but generally one turn equals one foot.
For $60 well worth the money IMHO.

Hey thanks for the input, maybe I'll invest in one. My friend and I are planning a fishing/camping trip to potholes/seep lakes, so this should help out a little if I can get out and get one.

The little lakers are ok but think how much better it would be if you could use your downrigger at any depth or at any lake. Not to shoot your idea down but i would definately go with the Scotty ?1050s? (Next size up from the laker). I owned a set till i put the electrics on and they worked awesome. Worked great for rainbows to lakers to chinook. 250ft of DR cable too. Don't limit yourself, the 1050s will probably be the last ones you buy unless you go eletric. And they are small, great for small boats or limited spaces and not to spendy. Just my 2 cents.

I agree with FFF, if you have the extra bucks the next size scotties are a treat.
