Finally got my explanation of benefits for the hospital portion of my knee replacement, $52,000 before the insurance discount of $17,000.

It all boils down to this - I'm right, everyone else is wrong, and anyone who disputes this is clearly a dumbfuck.

There were a whole bunch of uninsured people that visited the Emergency Room that you had to pay for, too. That won't appear on your EOB, though.

Socialized medicine..............already here, just performed badly.

Went back to work in 3 weeks. The knee feels strong. the knee gets a little painful at the end of the day but seems to get better every day. PT twice a week helps alot but hard to sleep that night. She said I'm progressing as fast as anybody she has ever worked on. Looking to get the other knee done before the end of the year as I have met my out of pocket max. Cut back the pain meds to 1/2 a percocet every 8 hours soon to be 1/2 every 12 hours.

How's it going for you Slab?

Is that your out of pocket cost, or what it cost the insurance company?

Hospital charged $52,000, insurance discounted the amount to $34,000. My out of pocket cost will be around $4,000.

Glad you are back up and running. My dad's knee replacement also went very well. He was 76 at the time and his PT was pretty easy on him since he lifts weight 5 days a week or more. Do the PT, you will recover faster.
