I love my Revo's also and may now have to add a new one to the lineup. The new Revo MGX is the lightest baitcaster on the market, it may run a little shy on line capacity but it's nice and light for a long day on the river. Also a little pricey.

OK, I'll play.

Which Revo would be the best replacement for a Curado 201 E7? Opinions?

Went to check them out at OE this week, but the selection sucked.

That would be the Revo MGX. You'd have to cough up another Benjamin for that one. It looks like a real sweet reel if you do a righty crank. If not, you would have to wait until Abu switches the gear box to the other side of their reel. It'll hold 130yrds of 10# so that is enough line. If a fish is that far down stream from you, you had better put on your hiking boots and get down there and get even with him or he's gone.

That Inshore model that BFD was testing might work also, but it is a righty crank too.

It looks like Abu is trying to make a move and get along side Shimano and Daiwa in the low profile market but they are going to have to switch some gear boxes to the left side to win many of us over.

When they do, I may have to go to town and break out some of my old moldy money that ain't seen the light of day for a decade and buy a new reel. When they switch that MGX over to the left side, it just might be my huckleberry.

I'd go with the stx. I have one and it is by far my favorite reel.

Wow, who would have thought that Revos beat the piss out of Curados?

There are two types of people in the world, waterfall unicorn specialists, and Frito-Lay downs...

Well I have a Inshore & 3 Curados, the Abu is a good reel sure, but I'm not about to go sell off my Curados cuz I know how to protect em when a cloud passes over the sun.

What pigeonhole that put me in ??

So it looks like the Revo STX has a little more line capacity than a Curado 201 E7...

Can any of you that own both confirm that? Thanks.

They both hold plenty of braid. Look it up.

Revo STX 130/30# power pro
201 E7 190/30# power pro
The 201 E7 has a deep spool design.

Revo STX... 8.9 oz
201 E7... 7.6 oz
The Curado is a smaller lighter reel but with more capacity.

201 E7... salt water approved
Revo STX... once it gets a good sniff of salt they drop off in performance
That might be a deal-breaker for some.

Thanks Idaho, but something still doesn't add up...

If the Revo can hold 145 yards of 12# mono, it seems that the 130 yards of 30# braid capacity is wrong (even though that's what's stated on the AG website).

30# braid is closer to the diameter of 8# mono, so I would think that the Revo would hold a lot more 30# braid than just 130 yards.

Anyway, that's why I asked if anyone who owned both reels could chime in.

I'm looking for something to replace my Curado 201 DHSVs for fishing 12# Izor.

The S, SX, STX, Premier, Skeet Reese etc. are all on what I would call their original small frame....smaller that a Curado 200-size.
The Revo Inshore is their medium frame which seems to be the same/similar size as a Curado 200/201 frame.

The STX is a magnet reel, so make sure you want that.

DD
Who has has a Skeet Reese, an Inshore and a bunch of Greenies.
This one sees most of the action...

I think that I may have finally worn out the gearset...we'll see after the next service. If so, not bad for 17 years of service and numerous teardowns (clean and lube) and easily replaceable.
They built the B models too well. I expect they will stop producing parts, if they haven't already.
