Looking to take the old man out on the big lake to try some perch fishing or maybe a little downriggin for trout. Anyone got any April reports, tips on what to try or non-zipper lip places to try. I've never fished this lake except for sockeye. Thanks for the help.

The mouth of the Cedar is producing for cutts and bows. I have seen a lot of fish caught and I will be damned if I can catch one. beathead

Juanita Bay has been off and on for trout. Great last weekend, a little slow this past weekend. Fish 30 to 40 feet down, needlefish, coyote spoons or spinner/worm combo's

Got one yesterday off Cedar river, 60 ft deep, caught at 35 ft. Otherwise nada. 16" cutthroat.

For perch, you might try the point on the north entrance to Meydenbauer Bay(Groat point???)

If you see fish on the sonar, anchor and send little worm tipped jigs down to them. If no fish are showing, drift across the entrance of the bay, typically north to south, bouncing the bottom w/ jigs in about 30 feet of water. Gradually work out deeper on each drift until you find them. GOOD LUCK. let us know how you do - the kids are out of school next week and need to hit the lake!!

Mawdet,

There are millions of "baby salmon" headed to sea right now, so a "for sure" area to fish would be the Hwy 520 Bridge. Be sure to stay at least 300 feet from either side of the bridge to avoid a visit from Seattle's finest. Watch for schools of smolt with large targets underneath them. That'll be cutthroat and squaw fish. I recommend using 3.5 Coyote spoons.

Good luck and be sure and post your results.

Well, good day fishing, but not a lot of catching. Started trying for perch in the east channel, old man got one first thing then nothing but a couple of bullheads. Marked a ton, but had a hard time staying on them. Used a marker bouy but they kept moving on us. Then went to the mouth of the cedar. Fished for a couple of hours with only 1 other boat out there (blue woolridge). Had 1 hard takedown on a frog needlefish and zip on the wedding ring. Not to worry though, it still beats working and the old man was thrilled to get out. Thanks again for the help guys!

If you don't find fish around the Cedar try around the floating bridges.

I took Cigar's advice and fished the north side of 520 for a couple of hours Saturday morning. Five hits, two to the boat, no big ones (14-15 inches). Marked quite a few fish. Spoke to two fisherman Sunday who did well off the "white ship". With the lake warming, I think it's time to start fishing deeper than my usual 35 to 40 feet.

I've heard around the arboretum can be quite good. Never been there but have seen the area from the freeway and it looks like warmwater fish heaven. Don't think I'd eat any of them but would be fun to CnR. The though of decades of industry on the lake makes my stomach a bit queasy.
