Two buddies and I fished Blue Lake for the trout opener. We tore it up on Saturday. We easily limited out on smaller trout. I caught the biggest fish of the weekend. A 20" broodstock rainbow.

Just out of curiosity, what makes you think it is brood stock and not a triploid? Brood stock usually have the bottom of their tail worn but that fish is flat on top too. From swimming upside down? Just asking, no criticism intended. what

I am guessing it was a brooder because it's nose and mouth tips were beat up. It was missing a front lower fin (ventral?) and it's tail was pretty beat up too. Plus, WDFW stocked the lake with 200 "brooders" before the opener. And the 'bow has spawning colors.

The meat was a redish orange. I know they will sometimes put food coloring (or something to that nature) in the fish food to help the the meat turn red or orange instead of a brownish gray.
