We have been working on this for a little while now and finally have it perfected. We are giving away a dubbing box full of our new Steelhead Stalkers UV Flash Dub.

This dubbing is made with a blend of ultra soft natural fibers and a few other goodies blended in. The colors don't fade or bleed out. Its as soft as cashmere and extremely easy to dub with. This box includes our 12 best steelhead colors and many more will be available this winter.

This is our flash version that has a nice blue/purple flash. There are a lot of dubbings on the market that use similar uv flash but ours is the only dubbing that 100% of the fibers are enhanced with UV that reflects at 365 nanometers.

To enter this giveaway just respond to this post with your most memorable fish caught on a fly rod. I will enter everyone's name into a hat in one week and pick a random winner! Ends November 18th. Good luck. laugh

Our new dubbing will be available this winter.

Catching my last rainbow on the upper Elwha this September on the dry. My favorite fishery has come to an end but hopefully for the better...

Hooking a king , than being spooled and loosing all my fly line; only to find the fly line 5 minutes later with the fish still attached to it.

My one and only memory of a fly caught fish was a 16" rainbow out of some creek in eastern washinton @ the age of 18.Needless to say I can't remember anything else as well,I was most likely wasted.Good luck,

Locally - Probably a 16-17 lb king off the beach at PNP on a 6 wt while fishing for silvers. It was a huge tide change and the fish just kept taking line and headed towards Possession. Hooked it in front of the parking lot and landed it way down the far south side of the point.

Non local - Roosterfish, double digit Bonefish and Yellowfin tuna.
Yellowfin flat wear you out.

I was beach fishing on Bainbridge for resident coho a few years ago and I am not a very good caster. In fact, as I was chucking my pink clouser, and since I was in the water up to my armpits, my backcast kept hitting the water. And that was where the rezzie coho decided to hit. I nearly broke the rod/ ripped his head off/ flung him forward over my shoulder. And that's not even the end of the story.

He was a typical 3# specimen, about 20" long or so. And I put him, as I always used to, on a piece of driftwood that was up the beach. I go back into the water and I hear behind me WHOMP, WHOMP, WHOMP. An eagle had picked him up off the log and was flying away with him. I started yelling and trying to run ater it but since I was standing in 4.5' of water I looked like a mastadon trying to get out of a tar pit, including falling over into the salt in my haste to reclaim my fish. The eagle dropped it (he was laughing too hard maybe?) and I decided to head home before something else happened.

South of Grayland, WA August of 1999 or so. I was flyfishing for surf perch using a bead-eyed yellow and red fly. Retrieving it as fast as I could in 2-3 feet of water (rod tucked under arm, using both hands to speed the line back). I was on a big school of surf perch, and they were hammering it about every 2 or 3 strips. That is memorable in and of itself, but the memorable fish happened when I lost the school for a couple of minutes. . .

After a period of quiet my line straightened hard on a fish and quickly was all out and onto the reel. I was in surf and I thought I saw a big splash behind a wave (big compared to a sea perch). Before I knew it I saw my backing knot go out and defintely saw a salmon jump 100 feet off to my right, even though my line was pointing straight out to sea. Eventually, I landed a decent ocean going coho right there in the Pacific surf. Pretty exciting playing that fish in the waves.

Drifting the wind and current for salmon in a slot between islands in BC, when we stopped in 30' of water to "pass beverages" to the other boat, and the 10-weight tip bounces a bit.... ending up with a 35 pound halibut. Most memorable, not maybe the most exciting.

About 3 years ago fishing for salmon/steelhead in the summer. Lowest I'd ever seen the solduc. Fished 2 days with nothing but cutthroat to show for it with conventional gear. On day 3 I decided to switch out to an old 6wt my Dad had and have fun with the cutties.

First spot was attempting (poorly) to swing a dry across a tailout and after 2 super small cutts I got the hardest take I've ever had on a fly rod. The fish took flight and raced up/down that stretch for what felt like an eternity.

I was rewarded with a chrome ~4lb buck sockeye

I was fishing on the Metolius river below the Wizard Falls hatchery. I saw a nice 14" bow rising to the smallest flies I could never see. I tied on the smallest fly I had. First cast, perfect presentation, passed right over. Nada. Second cast, perfect presentation, a rise, a set, and fish on!

About 15 years ago when I was a newb to the salt water fishing in Puget Sound, I went into Johns in Everett and asked about flyfishing for salmon out of my float tube in the sound and he basically said not to waste my time. So Saturday rolled around and I went up to Kayak Point to fish for Searun Cutthroat. It was a foggy mid September morning and as I got out of my rig I could hear slashing out in the cove to the right. Paddled out and discovered a school of silvers cruising the cove. In about 3 hours I brought 12 silvers to the tube, couldn't count how many stikes I missed, and had 4 strikes that broke off on the set. They hit about any ugly fly I had tied up. Never did catch a searun that day.

I hooked a buffalo on my back cast fishing on the Firehole River in Yellowstone National Park.

He got away.

Fish on...

1:00am, June 1st, 1984. 28" rainbow on a smolt pattern and a 6wt. rod on the Nonvianuk river, AK. Not the biggest but absolutely the most beautiful fish I have caught to date.

Only one fish I have ever hooked while actualy fly fishing. Was a 14 inch Northern Pike Minnow, aka squawfish, on the Wynoochie while fishing for summer runs. Hit hard enough I thought it was asteelhead but soon realized it would have to be another day before I hooked a table fair fish while actualy fly fishing.

Dragging a fly line in the lakes doesn't count as fly fishing but have got many that way.
