In mid July I will be on a house boat on Lake Pend Oreille in Idaho. I need some help on how to fish this lake. I heard they have really good trout fishing there, I also wouldn't mind trying to catch some bass there also. Any advice would be much appreciated, some websites for idaho fishing would be good also. Thanks, aaron

I went there a few years ago and hired a guide for 3 days.

We trolled mostly with Rapulas off of planer boards. They need to get the lures away from the boat and the planers sure do that. They also troll flys off of the planer boards at certain times of the year. They get some monster Rainbows.

I think I have some pictures of the trip but can't seem to find them. We caught Gerrard(?) Rainbows to 17 pounds. It wasn't a hammerfest but we put in long hours for what we did get.

That is a big lake and I can't tell you were we were fishing because I just didn't pay that much attention to where we were going each day.

Have fun,

fp

What are planer boards, it might be a dumb question but i don't know. And did you mean rapala's, the crankbaits, what size did you use.

Planer boards are the boards that let the lures out to the side of the boat instead of just behind it. Kind of a enlarged side planer.

they were little plugs that didn't dive very deep. But, I know they were Rapala's.

I'll look for pictures again tomorrow and post if I find them.

I took a bunch.
