Getting ready for my first float on the Satsop to fish for silvers. Any suggestions on which route to take? I guess I'd like to come out at the highway 12 bridge takeout, but would be open for suggestions if you think a different route would be better.

Basically looking for an easy put in and takeout as I drive a small SUV. Anyone had any tweaker problems lately? Will probably be doing a mid week float.

Thanks,

King

I would suggest the West Fork for launching if you want to take out at the hwy. Sometimes you can just row to the seam and catch a limit. Without doing that whole drift thing.

The chum this year appear to be pushing the silvers to more current areas. Look just beyond the frog water.

Slabhunter,

So where would a guy put in on the west fork that isn't too difficult. If I went all the way to Highway 12 takout, how long a drift would that be?

Thanks for the info.

King

there's a launch right at the west fork. haven't been there in a couple years, but i've heard it was recently renovated.

no really major hazards from there to the highway, as long as you're competent with your boat.

My guess is roughly four miles of river below the launch to the take out. The only real obsticles are cement blocks 3/4 of a mile upstream of the take out. Beware of any sweepers that may be hung up there after today's storm.

Car prowls are common in that area. Pain in the ass.

The new west fork launch was completed in August.....wide open area to park "rigs"....parking lot right close to the road.....would have to be very "gutsy" to break into a rig there.......but ????????

it's not just on the Satsop, it happens everywhere.

What's the limit on tweekers?

Do you have to wait till you get home to clean them?

Can you just gut them in the field and keep the eggs?

To be kind to the enviroment, should you bury the carcass?

Best to deposit them at your local "hazardous materials disposal area" you don't want that stuff in the rivers.

Thus the reason I use a "91" tow rig. Green F-150 since my other truck had the driver's side door lock punched at Fuller the year before last. Old school Dept of Wildlife sticker (before the merger) makes the 4X4.

Was checked at the hwy ramp and handed my concealed carry permit along with my license and punch card. Courtesy to show I may be armed. cool
