Pretty pathetic when a perennial backer of the GOP not only won't back any of the current GOP clowns but is trying to ensure they don't win.

Wall Street and the financiers have always had a knack for picking winners in elections. They can read the tea leaves and they'll always throw their money at the ones who they think will be in a position of power and scheme ways they can keep making their dough. In '08 there really wasn't any doubt the voters were tired of the GOP and there would be a new posse. The most money in history flowed from Wall Street to the Dems and Obama for obvious reasons. Interestingly enough, the money from the financial sector is flowing more to the GOP this election cycle. These must be the ones that haven't been visited by the DOJ yet so they think they're still in the clear..

It never was Obama. It was Mr. self regulation GW Bush who didn't believe in enforcing regulations or having watch dogs.

As long as "money is speech" and "corporations are people", he who gets the most money to spend will be our President.
Don't like that? Then support those who are trying to get money out of politics, instead of supporting those who fight tooth and nail to keep it that way.
Fish on...

"It never was Obama" You have to be the driver of the stupid bus to even think that. If it was GW then Obama should have at least attempted to charge a few of the criminals. How many have they gone after? Do you think for a second they would give Obama money if they thought he was about to open the kimono on the whole deal? Every little guy in this country is taking it in the ass right now from every elected official. If you side with either party blindly you are no better that the guy that watched Sandusky ass rape that kid in the shower.
What happen during the S&L fiasco should be happening to every major bank and investment house right now. Their doors should be locked and people should be sitting in court and jail. Instead they have the keys to the treasury walk in freely and tell the press operators to print faster. On their way out every member of our government from top to bottom gets an envelope of our money.

Wall Street bought up all the Hope and Change. Then, they gave the Hope to the investors and kept the Change.

My how short some memories are. Just a short refresher. Bush proposed the bailout and he wanted the whole thing to do done in a three page bill with virtually no strings attached.
"Obama's predecessor created the $700 billion Wall Street bailout--to avert a total meltdown of the U.S. financial markets.
The 2008 Emergency Economic Stabilization Act (EESA) & Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) was signed into law by former President George W. Bush on Oct. 3, 2008.
The $700 million Wall Street bail out was engineered by the Bush administration.
It wasn't popular. But it worked. "It was convenient for some people out there to make a case that [TARP] was not necessary," Bush told RealClearPolitics last November, "but they weren't charged with the responsibility of dealing with a depression."

The bulk of the TARP funds have been repaid, and if the regulators (swear word where I work) allow it, more will be paid back early next year. Regulators will likely require higher capital levels though, so they will actually act as a governor on how quickly TARP gets paid back.
We never took any TARP.

Now to add a bit of civics lesson to the history lesson, remember that the party in the majority in the house or senate can hold hearing and conduct investigations if they wish to do so. The party in charge of the house - that would be the republicans - can open an investigation into any part of the bailout they wish. Apparently they do not wish to do much.

My beef with Obama is what he says he is going to do is really a long ways from what he does. Most politicians say what their audience wants to hear but come one Obama was the changey hopey guy wasn't he? Talking about Wall Street greed etc....then taking more money than anyone ever has from them...same old same old. So you really expected a presidential candidate to keep all his promises? Damn I bet you are going to be disappointed come Christmas if Santa fails to appear.

Pretty hard to get anything done when the party of NO who's primary goal is to get Obama controls the house. GOP = Gridlock Our Policy.

Grizz,
I bet you are still smarting over Bush's promise to balance the budget. Or does it hurt less when your guy lies?

Right now I bet the Dems could give the Republican house everything they've ever wanted and they would refuse to pass it. Their agenda is to get Obama and make ditto heads like you think Obama is to blame. It's all about trying to get one of the clowns elected which ain't gonna happen. The GOP hates America.

Never fear Grizz the most recent R star will certainly do the right thing.
This from Wickipedia
Ethics sanctions Eighty-four ethics charges were filed against Speaker Gingrich during his term, including claiming tax-exempt status for a college course run for political purposes. Following an investigation by the House Ethics Committee Gingrich was sanctioned US$300,000.[66] Gingrich acknowledged in January 1997 that "In my name and over my signature, inaccurate, incomplete and unreliable statements were given to the committee". [67] The House Ethics Committee concluded that inaccurate information supplied to investigators represented "intentional or ... reckless" disregard of House rules.[68] Special Counsel James M. Cole concluded that Gingrich violated federal tax law and had lied to the ethics panel in an effort to force the committee to dismiss the complaint against him. The full committee panel did not agree whether tax law had been violated[69] and left that issue up to the IRS.[70] In 1999, the IRS cleared the organizations connected with the "Renewing American Civilization" courses under investigation for possible tax violations.[71][72]

So now that we collectively accept our politicians to feed us a pile of BS to get elected, what are we supposed to base our decision on who to vote for ? If you think they would be a good guy to go have a beer with? We expect them to be lying sacks of $hit so that's what we get. No wonder were so screwed.

The jingle this go 'round is "Hope, Change, and the Middle Class" Now that ought to knock your socks off. And as far as Tarp repayment.......It is reported in a link in another thread that the Tarp amount was small potatoes compared to the unreported back door loans supplied by the Fed. R.
