Me and my buddies went to the nisqually and got 12 skiens of eggs and i dont have time to make it to a store to buy stuff..... I need to cure these eggs now before they go bad and was looking for a way to cure eggs without borx and egg cure..... Anyone have any tips for me please????

Eggs dont go bad quick. keep them refrigerated in a zip lock with dry paper towels and your good for a few days.

I've heard you can cure them in plain water but know nothing about the details or results from doing so.

yes! I would do a 2 parts sugar to one part salt. drain them after a couple hours. when you get back you could roll them in borax to firm them up...

I used to do the 1 part salt,2 parts sugar for trout. Let them drain after they set.

When you say part would that mean cups??????????

It's a ratio of 2:1. It could be any quantity of measurement as long as the sugar is twice the amount of salt.

Use 'tons' instead of 'cups' if you're doing lots of eggs.

Its 12 skiens of eggs average 8 to 12 pound hens....

OK then - stick with "cups".

Mix it up, use what you need and save the rest.

better off to refrigerate them and go to the store for egg cure or borax.

powdered milk or baby formula works great in a pinch too.....you know same stuff they cut crank with.

The sugar and salt is definately a good starting point. You can add jello or kool-aid to that as well. These days I'm kind of picky about my cures so I personally would paper towel them and refrigerate them overnite or for no longer than a period of 24 hrs. and go get some egg cure, dye or borax. good luck.

Like said above.Refrigerate and then get the right cure or @ least some Jello.Good luck,

When you find a "cure" you like...........buy 2 or 3......that way you'll have it on hand for a looooooooong time....

I use sugar, pickle curing salt, borax..........1/3, 1/3, 1/3....and then add some Beau Max dye.......
