Mike,
Thanks for the great website. Is there a way that you can set up the reports so folks can check a box or something regarding what species they caught? I know some reports are intentionally vague.
I enjoy reading peoples successful fishing reports , but many of the reports leave me wondering what species they caught. Not bagging on anyone, but the recent Offut & Goss Lake reports are examples of this.
"Great lake, I caught two."
You caught two what? Trout, Bass, Crappie, Perch?
Thanks,
Brian

Yea that is true...You get people saying "I got 20 in 2 hours fishing was great!" Well 20 panfish and perch in 2 hours really isn't much, but if you were trout fishing or bassing, 20 in 2 hours is a great day to say the least. I don't really know about the box checking idea, because their are just too many species to list. I think that Mike should put an example of what to say on the "Submit a Report" Page so when people go to post their reports, they see a guideline of what to say, such as time, day, species, what used, result, depth, etc. I understand that some people would like to keep their spots secret, but I can't stand when people just post a report saying "Fishing was great today will be back again soon" Well thanks for telling us that the fishing was great but for what species, where in the lake, depth, lures/bait???

Good suggestions all. I'll forward this to Aaron. He is working on a major overhaul of the site (yup, another one) that has an unknown completion date - as in we will get in done in-between other commitments like family, jobs, fishing, you get the picture. smile

Ultimately, what guys share in their reports is up to them. I'm just grateful they send in a report. Here in May we have had over 400 reports posted, but the number of unique visitors is probably around 25-30,000. There's a lot of visitors to this site that don't submit reports at all. I really don't want to be too critical of the ones that do.
