PULLMAN, Wash. (AP) - Washington State football player C.J. Mizell has been arrested in connection with a weekend fight at a fraternity house party.

Pullman police say Mizell was arrested Sunday on misdemeanor charges of assault and trespassing. He was taken to jail but released on his own recognizance.

Police say Mizell tried to enter a party at the Delta Tau Delta fraternity house on Saturday night. When he was denied entry, police allege Mizell punched one of the members and then fled.

A native of Tallahassee, Fla., Mizell started nine games at linebacker last season. A team spokesman says coaches are aware of the arrest and conducting their own investigation.

Heard he was a few days late back to school that caught Leach's eye and now this. Heard Leach sent him packing.

I wouldn't have let him in either... Football players ain't cool when they play for a $hitty team that's won 9 games in 4 years....

Since he is from Florida, perhaps he'll transfer to a school closer to home that will better fit his needs.

Even tho it seems like it takes skill and smart strategy to consistently win football games, I'm amazed at how stupid so many of the players can be. Maybe it works if some of the team members are skilled, and some of the team members are smart? And the ones that make the non-sports section news belong to the former group?

Mitzell has already been dropped from the team following this problem. Leach doesn't fool around. If you cannot follow 3 simple team rules you are gone. If your grades suck, you will be gone. Wanna smoke pot? You will be gone. Feel like smacking your girlfriend? Gone.

Good point DB..and 2 of the 3 "broken rules" are legal laws also! Though one of them I could care less about.
