Ding, ding, ding Chum Man hit it dead on. North Fork Lewis, 1991
That was one of about 8 years (until 93) when we would hit multiple fish like these each day. (1986 - 1991 were lights out) Almost every trip back then would yield at least one fish 18lbs. or over with the one back yard picture with my daughter weighing in at 22lbs. after sitting in the boat on ice for 5 hours. All hatchery fish.
I remember seeing Gary Lewis on the river all the time and any of us fishing back then on the Lewis had some great fishing. I can even remember fishing all day and only seeing 1 or 2 boats all day.
Summer runs are real hard on the Lewis as the Lewis will get pretty low and we would have to push the sled some days over shallow spots, jump back in and cast and have a double header!

I found these pictures and was thinking how lucky I was to have enjoyed that time and have a new fishery that is as good on the Situk. I wish all of the board could come up and fish the Situk, it is that good.

Although,,,The Sky in 1982 was fantastic. Used to bonzi up to Sultan on summer mornings, fish for 2 hours and then bonzi to Renton to work!

Of course back then you could fish the Cedar right behind the Boeing plant and walk to work with a Steelhead, now that takes you back!

My 7th grade shop teacher would show up to work with two nates in the trunk of his camaro and show them off to me and rub it in.He did teach me the egg-loop knot I use too this day.I would have to wait and hit the cedar on the weekends.Good luck,

SZ

its amazing how much a river cab change in even 10 years. Coho run is a combat zone on the NFL now a days and steelhead are few and far in between.
