Here's an April Sky fish....back when it was open in April.

Didn't find many during that time, but when you did, they were really nice fish.

This is a Pre-Spakey's Law photo.

Have you heard an exact date on when the opener will be?

actually, now that I think of it, I'm pretty sure the whole river will be open with the exception of reiter until they reach their egg take goal. Pumped to get back out again as well. The sky is definitely what I consider my home river. After work summer run fishing is sure nice since we have so much more daylight at that time of year. After work winter run fishing can sure be tough with an hour drive each way and only two hours to fish before dark but I love the sky so I have no problem doing it.

Congrats on the Job at Boeing! I've been at Boeing for over a year now. 2nd shift is a hard life to live but you'll get to first eventually. When I was on 2nd shift during summer run I would work a 10, get off at 1:00am, bomb home, tie jigs and leaders, then head to the river to get there at first light, then fish til noon and head to work for a quick nap and another 10 hour shift...haha! The things we do for steelhead. I work in 737 stow bins in the IRC in Everett. What's your job title? Everett? if Everett, look me up when you start. I work with quite a few steelheaders. Good people.

Yeah I will be working in Everett. The job title is Integral Fuel Cell. I had been applying for quite awhile so I would pretty much take anything to get into the door.
I am going to try and switch to the first shift as soon as I can. One of my buddies works in tank also and he seems to like it a lot.

My cousin does that. Kevin Olsen if you see him. You have to be able to squeez into a 17"x10" opening to get into those tanks. that's a good job though. Higher pay grade than me so good on ya. You'll be out in the main factory. I'm in the interiors building. It's very tiny compared to the factory but you can still get lost in my building. It'll blow your mind how big the factory is!

Anyway, back to the skykomish...anyone got anymore pics they wanna share? I'm still missing it like no other but the pics are helping. Where's Luis when you need him? I know he's got some pics.

Hi Drew -

I admire your enthusiasm and you remind me of when I used to bank fish the Sky with GBL before heading to work at the Big B in the early 80's. We used to walk into the BJ Hole at about 5AM and spread out just enough to lock up the hole before the boats came down from Sultan to try and pull plugs. We would take about 1.5 - 2 hours to work the drift from top to bottom, then head to Renton. More times than not, we would walk out with some nice summer runs.

I've also always considered the Sky as my "home" river too, but that river has broken my heart over the last 10 years. Just seems like there's way too many boats and not enough fish. I will admit though that I haven't really given it another good shot over the last 3 years or so, so maybe you can get me pumped back up!

yeah, something about the sky keeps me coming back. I would still go there if it was twice the distance. I hooked my first two steelhead on the sky. So maybe that's why she's so special to me.

Nice! I really need to get those guys dialed in now that I have the boat. We didn't target them last year. This will be the year I put some effort into it.

Yeah I had to prove I could fit through the opening during the interview. I fit.
Anyway lets get back to the subject of the sky. Sorry to hi-jack the thread.

I miss the C&R season on the Sky, Sauk, and Skagit. It is so bad that I'm thinking of selling my house and moving south! I will post some pics when I figure that out.
