I own a .44mag Ruger Deerfield carbine, but it is an auto-loader. I'd be interested in getting a .44mag lever gun of some sort. While I have dies for .45 Colt/.454 Casull, I'm not certain that I want to go that route, as I don't have a pistol in that caliber, but I do have one in .44 mag

Anybody have any experience with one of these pistol caliber rifles? I just think it would make a fun plinker with the ability to ramp up for deer, bear, and whatever might come onto the farm at night.

the 1894 Marlin is a pretty nice gun, they run between 5 and 600 i believe... might be able to find a used one for cheaper tho...

Ruger also makes a 10/22 in .44 mag, but obviously its a semi auto, im actually looking at one as it would be pretty cool IMO...

have you considered a .45-70? or .444 or. 450 Marlin?

Have access to a .45-70 Marlin Guide gun. Have a .30-30. Have the Ruger "10/22" .44 autoloader, it is actually the Deerfield, and it was the 389th one made. Looking specifically for a pistol caliber plinker/hunter.

Seems like I've seen a Marlin lever in 44Mag (1894) but this one popped up.

the Henry rifles are good lever guns too.. some get spendy tho with all the gold and stuff on them.. my uncle has the 1860 Henry, i think it was around 1200 bucks or so, cant remember... his is 44-40 tho...

My experience with .44 lever guns came from shooting in NRA Cowboy Lever Action Silhouette Matches. For me and the game I was playing, an 1894 with the 24" octogon barrel held so much better off hand than a 20" version plus the longer sight radius is nice on an iron sight rifle. Add some new sights, maybe a new recoil pad, and your set.

nice rifle BB.. since the mag tube is longer on the Cowboy, do you get a couple extra rounds, or does the spring not allow it?

I don't really know. Never tried to load up the magazine tube all the way. Five rounds in the tube at once is all I ever tried.

I have one in .44 somewhere in my colection. I will take a look at what make it is if you are interested.

Got a Model 94 Legacy in .357 and a an 1892 in .44 magnum. Both fun
rifles altho the pointy butt on the 92 can bite you if you don't
hold it right. Both are suprisingly accurate. I didn't expect a clover-
leaf from either and yet the 94 produces one fairly often. 3 to 5 shots
at 70 yards.
That factory Blazer ammo is on the money.

I have the newer rotary box mag version, not the tubular magazine version. The action is very similar to an M-1 Carbine/mini-14.

Accuracy wise, using the stock peep sights, a pop-can is dead at 50 yards or less. It has killed 3 deer and a few coyotes. I prefer 240 grain JHP full tilt pistol loads. Usually H110 is the powder I load, or Win 296.

It shoots the 300 grain bullets just fine. It is a fun gun to shoot. Just wish someone made higher capacity mags for it, as they only hold 4 rounds +1.

I have a Williams FP peep sight for that LNIB if your interested.

Took a look and dont have one anymore. All I got left is a 32 win spcl. and a 30-30.

the .32 special is a cool round... kinda like a .30-30 on steroids, just not super extreme.. a buddy got a nice 4 point this last year with a old 1947 Winchester model 94 in .32....

Ya its a cool little gun. Not sure of the year on mine but it is a winchester model 94.

it has something to do with the way the serial number is played out (like always)... ill see if i can find the site do you can date yours...
