Discovered my old Fenwick FS86 cloistered in my folk's shed a few days ago. Brought it home with me, but it needs something a little more contemporary than what was used many moon ago. What spinner do you boys think would balance it out nicely?

if you could find a real real nice vintage Mitchell 300 or 308 it would be kinda cool... if not, a Shimano Sedona, or Sahara would work.. also and Abu Cardinal, or a new Mitchell would work as well... Sportsmans had a new Shakespeare for like 40 bucks, that looked just like and felt just like a Pflueger President... tons of choices

wanna sell it?

Already have the Mitchell 300 and an old Abu that use to hang off'n it. Either would probably work fine, but was thinking nouveau-retro.

Sorry Rog & red, have a feelin' that it could still garner some chrome slime....

You can put a cheap POS on it so it looks cool, or you can put a stradic or some other kind of Shimano that functions properly.

How much capacity do you need? I would go with 4000 unless you don't mind the size.

I'll have to take the stick with me next time I head over to 3 Rivers and fondle one of their offerings mounted on same. Don't see the need for much more'n 100 yards or so of 30# PP on the spool so the Ci4 2500 and its kin may work/balance nicely.....

The Ci4 stradics are perfect..................period.
I run 1000s on my 1141s with 10lb braid and they are very fishy.
My 1 cent.

the 3000 is same size body as the 2500, but has larger capacity spool. I would recommend the 3000 over the 2500.

my boat rods are stradic 1000's ... perfect.

For what you are seeking a 2500 is about right. I am not a fan of huge reels.

the Stradics are the ones with the dual knob handle right? or is that the Spirex?

The reel with the double paddles is the Spirex. The Stradic is the model between the Saros and the Sustain.

If you are considering getting a 2500, you may as well get the 3000. The same specs as the 2500 (weight, drag pressure, etc), but it comes with a bigger handle and more line capacity. I can't really see a reason not to get a 3000. If you end up with a 2500 for a screaming deal, a 3000 spool of the same model should fit on it.
