KIDS LEARN ABOUT FISH AND FISHING!

FREE YOUTH FISHING FAIR EVENT IS FULL OF “HANDS ON” ACTIVITIES FOR YOUNG AND OLD TO LEARN ABOUT FISH AND FISHING.

The Tualatin Valley Chapter of the Association of Northwest Steelheaders will be hosting the 3rd Annual Youth Fishing Fair on Saturday April 13 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Century High School Commons. Admission is free but donation gladly accepted. The event will provide activities for children and adults with many “hands-on” activities to learn various skills essential to fishing, including knot tying, casting, stream protection and fish identification. Other activity areas will include angler ethics, and environmental concepts. A casting contest for the kids will include prizes and for the adults, there will be seminars with tips and techniques on catching salmon, trout, steelhead and sturgeon.
Demonstration booths will show a wide range of tackle and fishing equipment for salmon, trout, steelhead and sturgeon. An outdoor boat display will feature the various styles and types of boats for fishing. Last year’s fair drew a crowd of 500 children and parents to learn about fish and fishing through various activities and demonstrations. For further information on the event, please contact Grant Corliss at (503) 357-3159 or Tom VanderPlaat at (503) 357-4825.

The Tualatin Valley Chapter of Association of Northwest Steelheaders is a volunteer-based, non-profit organization for anglers dedicated to restoring and enhancing fish and their habitats for today and the future. The chapter is involved in a wide range of community projects, such as scholarships, master angler program, stream restoration and classroom incubation fish tanks.
